Marriot on Gulf Coast?
Any recommendations on a property to redeem 140K points in June of this year? I don't have enough time off work (or frequent flyer miles) to fly to the Caribbean this summer. Wondering if there are good properties on the Gulf, especially on the panhandle since that's closest to me (live in Birmingham). I'm also wondering if it's too late to redeem for this summer. If this doesn't work out, I'll probably transfer over to Delta where I'm pooling for French Polynesia 2013.
June is significant because I'm looking for a long weekend to spend my 2nd anniversary somewhere nice. |
How about the Marriott Grand Point Clear (AL). We were there several years ago and it was very nice. But it was devastated by one of the gulf hurricanes after that visit so I don't know how it is now that they've rebuilt.

It depends on what you are looking for. There is a SHS in Pensacola Beach that is a new property and right on the beach. The area is very nice as well. But it isn't a FS resort hotel if that is what your looking for. Unfortunately, Marriott lost the Bay Point Resort in Panama City Beach or I'd mention it as a something similar to the Grand Hotel already mentioned. But there is still the Legends Edge MVCI property there, but I'm not sure if your points would be enough for there.
In Sandestin, there is a CY and an RI and both are within the Sandestin complex, but are not right on the ocean. |
I second the Marriott Point Clear. Beautiful place. Was there last January.

Although not located in the Panhandle, recommend Residence Inn Treasure Island...located directly on the Gulf of Mexico. Excellent reviews on tripadvisor.com

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I'll be checking these out.
The main thing I'd like is a nice view and being right on the beach. The wife and I love being able to just walk onto the beach and have chairs sitting there. Additional amenities are great, but having been a student so recently (last year), I've only ever read about things like first class etc. |
This might not work, since you want farther north, but I LOVE both Marco Island properties - the resort and the time share (aka "vacation villas" now I think). You're right on the beach - it's a huge beautiful beach and the weather is (almost) always great. Warning - there are tons of kids at the resort. Good in my book, but maybe not in yours.

Edit: Okay, I see that it is within Mobile Bay. |
