Help "Adjusting" Marriott Thermostats
Anyone know the button sequence to override a white generic, no model or name visible, Marriott thermostat? Its not motion detector operated.
Its got 2 large UP / DOWN buttons and a small, round fan control button in the middle. A F or C degree setting is a switch at the bottom. Only the "set" temperature appears in the display in large font and never indicates the room's real temp. I've seen these at many FS Marriott's lately and they must be pre- programmed to limit temps and turn off after a few hours at night. No markings as to model or manufacturer and can't open it up to see the guts. Really annoying waking up in a sweat at 1am and again at 4am when the air kicks off. I've asked the staff for help, they assure me "its been reset" but that's no help at 1am. I've read here about other models and VIP modes (and tried the sequences) but this type isn't the one. My kingdom for a solution! Thanks |
I'd like to know too as I have experienced the same problem. I did pick up the VIP mode key sequence for some thermostats that allows me to lower the temp from 65 to 60. It flashes VIP after doing the "vulcan mind meld."

My issue is that it goes completely off - the fan & air - at 10pm, 1am and 4am - when I am in the room but seems to run all day while at work. I'll take a picture of the thing tonight if I can.

Understood, but that's not it. No motion detector "eye" on this model nor any branding of any sort... I'll try to grab a picture and maintenance guy tonight... If the sudden lack of noise from the fan hum doesn't wake me up, the heat will shortly afterwards. Just a pain to get up and reset.

Off topic but I wish all hotel rooms had ceiling fans.
|
I would speak directly with engineering and see if they can help you.
|
In some hotels there is a panel on the wall that u can open and flip the switch in the panel to reset it. I've found this typically helps, but not all FS Marriotts have this wonderful panels.
|
I've actually popped the cover a few times and just twisted the wires that close the circuit to send a start signal to the blower together but I don't think I should post the instructions on how to do so. :D

This is one thread I really wish provided more information. But alas very little appears to be available. I'd give up my first born for a solution. Of course that would mean you would have to take on his tuition payments for the next 4 years.:D

Here is a (poor) picture of the offending device - seen it in many Marriotts lately. Maybe this will spark a solution. Can't see anyway to pry into it nor a manufacturer. What's washed out in the display is a huge 60 F and a tiny arrow pointing to the HIGH fan selection on the left. Meanwhile, the room is at least 72 degrees and the entire thing clicks off nightly at 10pm, 1am and 4am (at least - that's when I'm in residence). Please, please, please before I return on Monday night... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/membe...-imag0306a.jpg |
Found this link:
http://www.lodgingac.carrier.com/Fil...ers-Manual.pdf Not the same model, but it looks promising. (See pages 5 and on.) |
Thanks, I had found this in a previous thread last week and tried it with no success. The following looked promising but the F / C is a switch and not a button...
FACTORY DEFAULTS - If, for any reason it is desirable to return all stored settings back to the factory default settings, press the Fan button. While holding the Fan button in, press the Down button for 2 sec. All icons will appear. Press and hold in the F / C button until Fd appears. This resets all factory settings, except for the equipment type. |
