award res for someone else
 

i want to make an award res for my daughter at a property, but i will not be there with her.

can she use the lounge during that stay? Is there a way to have her get my Plat perks if i dont doing the checking in or stay there?

No. You can make a reward reservation and have her name placed on the reward cert as the user, but she will not be able to use your tier level perks.

This is considered simply you using your points to give a 'gift' to someone else.

It's highly unlikely anyone here can tell you a way around that.

This is one that probably varies by hotel. I'm fairly certain that Marriott Reward's rules don't obligate the hotel to give her anything.

That said, my wife frequently goes ahead of me by a day or two for our trips to visit her family. She checks in to our Marriott with her as "Guest 2" and they've never *not* allowed her access to the lounge. (It's usually the same Marriott but we don't go often enough that people recognize her or anything.)

I don't think it's too rare that this happens...we've done it in a couple other places as well...nor do I think it's all that big of a bending of the rules. It's a little bending I suppose...but the fact that Marriott is welcoming of my wife is a bit of a competitive advantage for them over Starwood, which for the most part is not. (Hilton's better than both of them: she actually shares my status. When I hit a status tier, they mail us two cards - one with her name on it. She can book rooms as Guest 1 using my account and status.)

More often than not I've gotten my husband's status when he's reserved me a room, both paid and points. Actually I don't think I've ever not gotten it.

each of these responses are about the 'spouse' versus a son or daughter. I think many programs will extend to wife's checking in earlier than a husband or visa versa. (point being, the member is travelling to the site at some point)

They may extend the courtesy to son or daughter, but I don't think it will be seen as the same thing. Especially when the OP says they are not travelling to this site at all, not that the daughter is checking in at an earlier time.

OP, Please let us know if they allow the extended courtesy. I hope they will for your daughter, but I don't think they will.

Maybe someone that has experienced this situation will post. But, it will likely depend on the individual hotel site as it is def. not part of the T&C to extend your benefits to others. (I really think the spouse is considered a courtesy).

I am curious if you have one of the accounts that no longer exists with Hilton. If you have been a member for many years or a HGVC owner, this may be the case. But, I am really curious about the sharing of one account. They no longer allow 2 people on 1 account, not even hubby and wife. When you say they mail you both a card, it makes me think it's an account called a "mutual fund' which they no longer offer, but still honor those that exist.

Is this the case for you and your spouse?

I've been an HH member since December 22, 2000.

Only reason I remember the date is because I joined in the lobby of a tiny rural Hampton Inn in the middle of a blizzard. :D

IME they will get the benefits of your status.

I don't expect it but of all the hotels I've booked for others, I can't remember any that didn't get lounge access, etc.
