Marriott Park and Fly question
 

Are we always locked into the PNF rate Park and Fly package when wanting to reserve a night before flight and keep car a week or two at Marriott Courtyard LAX (El Segundo) or do they run special room rates occasionally specically for that type of usage?

If not, is there any other code I can use to get that package at a discount?

I suggest you call and ask.

For example, the Fairfield Inn near DFW ("Fairfield Inn Dallas Airport North Irving") will upsell any rate to PNF for a flat $30 -- even a super-low LNF rate. (And, I can almost always get a LNF rate here.)

Also, do a search for Park, Stay and Fly in your area. The OHare Ren often wants around $179 for a park, stay and fly rate. But I've used that hotel three times for extended trips and paid between $89 and $119 by booking through the Park, Stay, and Fly website. They aren't always available when I first try to book, but if I check back often enough before my trip it opens up. I've even received points for my stay and my Platinum arrival gift each time once they attach my rewards number to the reservation. But I had to do the latter through the hotel directly after the reservation was made. Not sure every hotel will do that since it's a third party reservation.

FYI no Marriott, Hyatt or Starwood hotels offer "Park n Fly" (tm) rates...but they do offer rates including parking (Park n Fly is a trademark not owned by any of them and the owner reached out a few years ago looking for some $$$)

Pedantics. Everyone knows what it means, whether it's listed as park here, fly there or park n fly. ;)

The last time I checked the Park and Fly rate at the LAX Courtyard, I thought the rate was pretty steep (over $200 per night).

Here's an idea. I did this a few years ago.

I've got a Marriott Premier credit card. This means that I get an e-certificate for one free night at a lower category Marriott each year (in the first year of card membership, I think it's a category 1-4, and after that it is cat 1-5).

If you do a search on LAX at Marriott.com, you will find that there are several hotels not too far from LAX. So, I called a few of them and asked if it would be possible for me to leave my car parked out front (at my own risk) if I were to spend one night there using my e-certificate. I think it was the Springhill Suites LAX/Manhattan Beach (category 3) that agreed. This hotel does not have shuttle service to and from LAX, but they are only a few miles from LAX.

So my wife and I parked our car out front, checked in, spent a few minutes freshening up in our room, and then asked the front desk to call us a taxi. It was about $20 to the airport. We were away for a little over 2 weeks and then took another $20 cab ride back to the hotel to pick up our car. Saved us quite a bit compared to the Park and Fly rate at the LAX Courtyard.

The other alternative for us is just to use a limo service. From where I live, the cost of a private limo to and from LAX is not all that much greater than the Courtyard's Park and Fly rate.

I just reserved a room at the Marriott at Dulles using a Cat 1-5 certificate from my credit card. I want to use it as a "Park Here, Fly There". I saw the cash booking rates had that package for a $25 premium ($124 vs $99). Can I call Marriott or the property and just pay the $25? If it has cluster potential I'll probably just cancel and re-book on a cash basis. In my award notification I saw it says under additional charges:

I'll be gone a week, so if I am going to potentially pay $63 ($9*7), I'd just assume pay $124 and keep the certificate (and earn the points).

cant speak for that Hotel. But in the past anytime I asked about leaving my car for 2-3 days after staying ,almost everytime I was told they have a PnF rate. I tell them if I was going to be away for a week+ then thats a great deal, < a week its not. Im then quoted a daily fee for parking beyond the night I will be actually staying as a guest.

I assume if you dont book their PnF rate then they will qoute you a daily fee for parking

Thanks. As an update, I wrote Marriott Rewards and they quoted me $40 to park for a week + tax, then $30 for each subsequent week.

I decided to cancel the cert reservation and book a PnF rate since I'd be about $90 more out of pocket, but under the Spring Mega-Bonus I'd get an extra certificate out of it (since I had an odd number of stays already booked). So in effect I could burn a 1-5 cert and $40 or spend $130 keep a certificate and earn another (plus 2K points), I decided to pick option 2.
