Ways to keep up platinum status

Hi -- I have been platinum for 4years now and this is the first year I "may" hit gold - "may" miss it too --- primary reason - lotsa international travel - specifically AP - China, India - not many marriott options...

Any suggestions on other ways to keep up platinum this year?

Meetings

Just schedule some meetings... $75/hr or so for 1-2 hours at a limited-service hotel should get you 10 nights' credit for about the same as a single night's stay.

Do you have the Marriott Premier Visa card? That is good for 15 nights/year.

Since you have been platinum for 3+ years straight, your account will be reviewed by someone if you do not hit the 75 nights this year. Marriott has been known to extend platinum status to long term platinum members. I have met a few people in Marriott concierge lounges that have received this.

Okay, I tried searching for how this "meeting" works but I must have been doing something wrong. Could someone point me to a thread to give me an overview on how to earn 10 nights of credit for booking these meetings?

The 15 nights the credit card gives you are great. Starting off the year with rollovers and those can get you most of the way to gold.

What FormerLurker posted is about the extent of it. You need to make sure they note your MR number etc.

For more info from the Marriott Rewards menu on marriott.com choose How you earn. On the Earning Marriott Rewards Points and Miles web page scroll down and click on Rewarding Events. That pretty much covers it.
