Points for no hot water
Hello all. Recently stayed at a Courtyard for 12 nights and was stuck on the top floor. Hot water took 7-8 minutes to warm up when I turned it on. Not a big deal, but a pain in the ... and it annoyed me. Talked to the desk, said something was broke and that they would fix it. Still wasnt fixed the next day. Asked for a new room on a lower floor so I can have hot water, and not have to get up 10 minutes earlier to start the water.
After all this, I ask the manager for some points or something for the trouble of packing all my stuff up and moving it down 3 flights of stairs. They agree on 5000 points. The regular points for the room have posted. The 5000 points he agreed on have not. How long should I wait and what is the best option for me to get these points? I took his card and was going to email him, but wanted to ask here first.

I would go ahead and email him now. I might word the email more as a "thank you" for offering the points (and and thanks for fixing the problem if they did, or an inquiry on if they have fixed it yet if they hadn't fixed it before you left.) I might also remind him of my name and MR# and my exact stay dates (as well as the issue you had) just in case he had lost any of that information.

Yes, and if he doesn't then go directly to guest services and you will definitely get some kind of compensation.

I e-mailed the manager and they refunded my payment. They also thanked me for letting them know. It seems that a worker had not completely turned on a valve that let hot water flow to the room.

Slow hot water, not so sure what I would ask for but if NO hot water, I'd ask for half off the room. That's what hot water is worth to me.

I'd ask for a resolution 1st such as moving to another room. if the hotel is unable to do that, then I'd ask for compensation (either points, a credit on the room or both) I'd push for both if it were me since hot water is a basic necessity.

When I first started staying, I didn't have hot water. It was more like warm water which got colder after 10 minutes. I complained to front desk and they just said it was the weather and that everyone was using the hot water. It didn't make much sense to me but I didn't want to argue so I went out and came back about 6-7 hours later to take another shower and yet again no hot water. Called front desk again and they said they would bring the situation up and thanked me for telling them. I just didn't bother to do anything after that. That was my rookie mistake, I would recommend you to follow up and make sure you get what you deserve.

I had the same issue at the Boston Radisson, it tool a solid 15-20 minutes for the water to warm up. I was pissed becuase I was only staying one night and had to shower before my flight. I dont think I ever complained about it becasue I didnt have time at the hotel and never bothered emailing.
Also I loved being on the top floor. Awesome view of the city.

All is well that ends well. Took the advice on here and sent an email. Got this response a few hours later, as well as an automated email from Marriott stating the points have been credited.
I truly appreciate your flexibility during your stay. We did have a hot water heater problem, which we had to wait on parts in order to repair. I requested the 5K points and Marriott should copy you on the e-mail today. Please let me know if the bonus points do not appear within the next few days. Again, thank you for your understanding.
