Hope this is the right place to post......
I am plannig on staying 7 nights in February with points (they are the same Category 6 but the BArts is $100/nite). I have stayed twice at the JWM, I have read all the pertinent posts and it's not clear cut which would be better. As a Platinum, I have gotten upgrades at the JWM before but I paid for the rooms, would I get the same treatment on points; would I even get upgraded at the BArts. I read the Lounge is better at the BA for breakfast but better at the JWM for the rest. My feeling is that I can't go wrong with either. Your opinions are welcomed. Thanks

The breakfast at BA was quite nice. It is very quiet as hotel only have about 47 rooms. You are allow to use either lounges if staying at BA. I would definitely choose BA over JW. However, I find the electronics too difficult to use for a short stay. Too many buttons and remotes and never sure which button does what. Also, BA only have king size beds. The couch in the living room is not a sofa bed and a little bit too narrow for comfortable sleeping. So more suited for a couple than a family stay.
Evening hors d'oeuvres at BA not much to speak off. The JW lounge have more, but still nothing special. I actually had better in lower level Marriotts.
The fitness room on 20th floor was massive. Largest I ever seen for a hotel. The 19th floor rec center was amazing, especially the full size basketball court. But everything on that floor cost extra. If you are staying during basketball season and the Heat is in town, you might see NBA players in the BA. In summary, BA is more like a Vegas suite and the JW is more like a business hotel.

Thank you, very informative...what I meant to say was that the BA is $100 more per night than the JWMM, so just from a price standpoint you get a better value for the points at the BA.

Also, when I checked in, I was offered 500 points or a $10 credit. The $10 credit is good for any retail/restaurant on the 2nd floor of the SW. I find the $10 a better deal than the points.
I failed to mention that they checked me in at 9 am. My room was available and ready. I was running late so I did not have time to eat. But I could have gotten a free breakfast on check in day. This is the only instance where this had happen to me at a hotel not familiar with me.
They escorted me to my room and gave me a tour of the room. If one is not running short on time like I was, be sure to ask the staff how to work all the electronics. There was Bang & Olufsen equipment everywhere, TVs and sound systems. Also a TV built into the bathroom mirror and viewable from the Jacuzzi. Not sure how they all work. Also, IPAD in hotel room for reaching the hotel staff. I never used it so cannot comment on it.

Didn't drive so can't really comment on parking but I'm sure there are some parking garages in the vicinity but don't know if they are cheaper.

It's a petty nice property. Stayed both there and at the Beaux Arts which doesn't participate in the MR program anymore. The Lounge is better than your average domestic lounge. If the hotel is not busy however they tend to close some of the restaurants over the weekend (when I was there at least).

They are but they do not participate in the Marriott Rewards program anymore. So can't earn or redeem points there - don't know why but I won't be staying there because of that reason. The JW Marquis is as nice as the Beaux Arts.

The breakfast in the CL is super nice, e.g., smoked salmon and fine cheeses, etc. The evening is sparse though, so one certainly can`t make it into a dinner, if one was so inclined.

Thanks. I think they should not be part of the program if no points earn. Very misleading especially since they are one of a kind property and sitting on top of the JW. Never stay at the JW but the Beaux Arts was really nice.

Agree. I love the Beaux Arts but not gonna spend money if I'm not earning points. That's my MR policy
