Can I "uncancel" a reservation?

In my infinite wisdom, I cancelled a memorial day rewards reservation that I booked several months ago, deciding I'd rather pay the $700 the room costs out of pocket over the 90,000 points. What I failed to realize is that I booked the room as a Category 5 for 75,000 points and it has subsequently changed to a Category 6. This changes my opinion on it. Is there a way to "uncancel" the reservation?

Thanks!

Give Marriott Reservations a call and ask.

If you have enough points, get $1000.00 in Marriott Gift Cheques and "pay" for the $700.00 with those. Since they're supposed to be treated like cash, you'll earn points on those. Don't know what your status is, but I know they cost me 135k points for the $1000.00.

no way to "uncancel" a reservation - but if there is availability they can make another reservation

Yeah - this was my intention in the first place. It seemed to me like I would be better off paying 120k points (net after earnings) and earning night credits (this will be the first year in the past five that I'll struggle to maintain plat) plus having $300 leftover for incidentals than I would be paying 90k for the room, totally forgetting that I had only paid 75k. The weird thing was when I opened the reservation up, it showed 90k as the "cost" of the room, but obviously when I cancelled, it was my 75k points I got back.

And yes, it would cost me 90k to rebook.

Oh well. Thanks for all the help!

I have actually had luck uncancelling rooms that had raised in price (but not points) as a Plat and received the original price. It MIGHT work if you try....

correct

Following the rules, you'd re-book in the current category. It doesn't hurt to ask/beg/plead, but be prepared for a "no".

unfortunately there is no way for the agents to manually override a category ...the agent would need to deposit the point difference (not sure how likely that is but I know it isn't an absolute impossibility)
