Free Internet access
I'm currently at the JW Marriott in Dubai. Although it's a fantastic property, they don't have wifi in the rooms, just hard wired Internet.
They do have wifi in the lobby and the pool area. This requires a code that can be obtained from the business centre. When I asked at the business centre, in was told that the codes were not free for platinums, as I already had access in my room. Not much help on my iPad :) There is also free wifi in the lounge, so it wasn't a big issue. I'd just liked to have had wifi by the pool. Is this policy correct? Or should I be able to get free wifi wherever it is available throughout the hotel? I'm angry at myself for not bringing my travel router. I've stayed at this hotel a few times and had forgotten about the lack of wifi in the rooms. Cheers, Rick |
From the FAQ, sounds like there is an issue with the policy:
Does this include wireless Internet access? Yes, in the lobby and public spaces where available, but not in the meeting and conference areas. As a Marriott Rewards Gold or Platinum Elite member, what do I need to do to access free Internet access when I arrive at the hotel? Is it only available in the guest room or will it be available throughout the hotel? To access this benefit, simply connect your laptop to the Internet in your room or other public space after checking in to the hotel. Log on as you normally would by clicking to accept charges for Internet access. No charges will be reflected on your bill. Free Internet access will be available in your guest room and in the lobby/public spaces where available. http://www.marriott.com/marriott/high-speed.mi |
Thanks for that. I'll keep it in mind for my next trip.
It wasn't a big issue, as I've only just posted on here after being here 6 nights. Heading out tomorrow :( Cheers, Rick |
