Question about not receiving elite benefits...
 
Greetings, all.

I have two questions for you. The first is, when do bonus points from the platinum welcome gift post? I arrived on Sunday at a Courtyard in the US, and today is Wednesday, and they haven't posted.

Isn't there some sort of elite benefits guarentee about that? How would I go about claiming that if they did not post by Friday morning?

The second question is, my hotel room last night reeked of smoke, and I have non-smoking room set in my preferences. What would be the best way to handle this situation?

The bonus points normally post 2-3 days after you check out.

Go and talk to the duty manager about the smoke smell. They should move you if there's a room available.

The guarantee is for them "asking" you if you want points or snack from the market.

The points should post when you night(s) posts. If it doesn't, then call MR. I never had a problem with MR giving me the bonus points.

Sorry guarantee is never available once you check out of the property.

If you ask for the bonuss points, they normally post when the stay posts. If they don't, call Marriott Rewards CS. Takes them about 10 seconds to add them & they show up the next day.

If you ask for the food or drink option, usually they're supposed to get it to you the first day of your stay unless you request otherwise. If they don't show at all - or if you were not even asked at check-in (whether it be for points or something else) - then you need to bring it to the hotel's attention before check-out to claim the guarantee.

Also, it's up to you on whether to invoke the guarantee. I stayed at a property that had a new employee at check-in who forgot to ask. Because the property treats me very well every time I stay there I didn't bother to invoke the guarantee.

Re: a room that smells of smoke, call the front desk & ask them to change your room. Supposedly they'll go after the person who stayed there previously for the room cleaning charge of $250 or whatever it is.

And if you don't, they'll probably go after you for smoking in the room, because either the maid or next guest will report it!
