Reward Points Calculated v. Posted
:td:Stayed at the Pattaya Marriott and incurred not including tax charges of Thai baht 10,655.69, approx. US$343, but only received points from the property of 2293 (for charges of US$229.30).
Although Marriott Rewards reviewed my Folio and provided the proper number of points, can't understand why this hotel valued the charges at nearly 50% less then the estimate - can't be exchange rates as that would only vary the charge by no more then 3%! And this is not the first time, nor probably the last time, that foreign charges will be incorrectly credited, so be warned fellow foreign travelors! |
Unfortunately, it isn't only Marriott, and it isn't only international charges. It makes sense ( and adds up) to check points after every stay.
This is especially true when coupons, certificates, or other discounts are used to lower your final bill, as many hotels merely check the last line in the folio....and do not add back in any type of "credit" that was gained. |

Once the MR Platinum folks got a copy of my invoice that redid my points to the correct amount in under 24-hrs.

Thanks - that is about what I expected. I checked out over 4 weeks ago, and still no points so I have contacted the Elite Helpdesk, but the issue is further complicated as I used an Advance Purchase Rate
