Hotel Website: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection
Official List of Cosmopolitan Bonvoy Elite Benefits: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/marriott-bonvoy-at-the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services

The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee

Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.

Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.

Platinums receive:

* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)

* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points

* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.

* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area

* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.

Resort fee:

* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.

Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:

Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email [email protected] shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.

Hat tip to billycwhatup for this:

* Identity points and MR points can not be earned on the same stay

Other tips

The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.

The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.

The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".

If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.

And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.

If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).

If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.

Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

Yes this works. I can confirm this. I just charged one buffet on two separate days, no questions asked.

Just another FYI - if you arrive early in the morning, you can eat at the buffet the same day. This is great because the rooms aren't normally clean until 1 or 2pm on a weekend...

bad service

i stayed there in October. service was extremely poor. as for concerge desk. pretty dumb and very uninformed. i paid $300 for two tickets to circus sol la at another hotel. needless to sky seats were with a poor view. I was advised to pickup the tickets before the show... i collected them 1 day before and realised the location. it would seem Cos books bad seats and then tell the guest that it essence the theatres fault. something they is BS. ... my advice don't ask for help from the hotel. as they are there only to make profit out of you.

i will NEVER go there again...

Just got back from another amazing time at the Cosmopolitan. Booked City room, no view. At check-in I told them it was my anniversary and tried the $20 sandwich but the clerk rejected the tip and then looked for rooms. After he looked for a while, he found an a Terrace 1-BR with fountain view. I gave him the $20 after getting the key. Was a great room on 42nd floor. View was superb. We did brunch at Wicked Spoon and no charge on final bill. We also did the Plat lounge several times. If getting up early, its a great option to snag a coffee and granola bar and get a good start on your day.

Special bonus: they sent us some champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for our anniversary with a hand written note.

When checking out, I used a combo of Identity comp dollars, Marriott gift cards and Marriott Visa to pay for everything, and it was pretty easy although it did take a few minutes to sort everything out. The front desk staff did have to confer a bit and look up instructions on how to do the Marriott gift card, bc apparently they have to go outside their system to do it. This was at 4AM so I was just happy the GC worked at all.

Having stayed at a number of Vegas properties I must say I'm not interested in staying anywhere else in the future -- the experience here is just so much better than other casino resorts.

Angry Resort Fee

It looks like the Cosmo is getting hit with that dreaded Vegas disease: Resort Fees. It hasn't made Cosmo's or Marriott's webpage yet, but apparently bookings made after Dec 3 for 2013 will have a $25/day resort fee added. For this you'll get Wifi, fitness center access, local & domestic long distance, and tennis court access subject to availability.

Thanks for the heads up on this fordan.

Couldn't find anything online about this, they are keeping quiet about it on their fb page too dispite a few people asking, called reservations and confirmed from 3rd December their will be a mandatory resort fee of $25 per night.

Bookings made before 3rd Dec will have the option of accepting the new resort fee or not.

Just made all my reservations for 2013 before this comes in, as much as I love the cosmopolitan this resort fee is going to kill it for me

Lots of LNF opportunitys about at the moment for anyone looking to book before the 3rd, check out the LNF thread.

Yep, that might kill it for me too. I often used the justification of no resort fee to book Cosmo over an MGM property. I heard the feds are looking to crack down and implement disclosure regulations for resort fees. Once they have to disclose the fees more-up front I suspect they'll disappear.

Not pleased about this resort fee, at all.

I wonder what will happen for those who book with MR points? Does this now become, essentially, a points + cash transaction?

Just made all of my reservations before midnight, cutting it close. I printed all of my reservation pages with timestamp. Just noticed on the Cosmo website they disclose the fee. There is NO fee disclosure on Marriott website. Wonder how that works? Booked all of mine through Marriott website.

On Cosmo website only:
Guests arriving on or after January 1, 2013, will be subject to a nightly resort fee of $25 per room plus applicable taxes.
The fee would have to be disclosed in order to be enforcable right? My Reservation (from Marriott.com) page says:

ADDITIONAL CHARGES
Complimentary on-site parking
Complimentary valet parking
Changes in taxes or fees implemented after booking will affect the total room price.
So I would have to think they can't charge any additional fees, legally, until Marriott updates their pages.

Okay, so the nested quote didn't work, but it says right there "Changes in taxes or fees implemented after booking will affect the total room price." Sounds like they can slap whatever fee they want to on there, and it doesn't matter what time stamp you have on your printed reservation.
