Room Upgrade
When you check in, we’ll upgrade you to our best-available guest room at no additional charge.

If I had one wish at Marriott, Hilton, or any other loyalty program it would be that Platinum/Diamond members would get their upgrade at the time of reservation rather then the time of check-in.

You can argue either way, is it better to sell a single room at the highest rate, or is it better to sell 100 rooms to a preferred guest? If you are the corporation, probably the later, if the individual hotel property owner, likely the former. This seems to be where there is a big clash of interests between the corporation and the individual hotel owner.

To me that's uncalled for. Since he/she had already made the country club crack it would appear to me that he/she is just hear to flame and be rude. Just my opinion of course.

Feeling offended is a choice and I support everyone's choice to feel whatever they like. If you choose to be offended by a smarta$$ed remark about what I consider to be childish behavior or attitudes, that's fine with me. ^

Isn't this the Hyatt Diamond system? Something like 4 per year...you get to play the card at reservation-time. (I've never held that status myself...just going from what I've read on FT. No idea what the limitations/restrictions are beyond the obvious: a suite needs to be available for sale.)

Starwood's ability to reserve junior and full suites as awards is also nice.

And yes, I completely agree, this would be a very solid top-tier perk. ^ It would be similar to the airline model where high elites get a few SWU's per year to use in addition to the more-common space available upgrades one to three days before the flight.

A different of opinion about the behavior is fine. The fact that you apparently didn't even read the OP closely enough to learn that he actually didn't demonstrate any form of "childish behavior" looks poorly on you, but it is also fine. However, the personal attacks on others (and their parents ) are not fine.

And frankly, it's a little weird in this case...it's not like the OP went and picked a fight with Marriott or anyone else.

If one really wants suites and puts things like points and "awards" in a "lower" category, then you might want to check out the Loews Hotels program.

You won't accrue "points", but it does have some nice features. For top level elites, suite upgrades guaranteed at reservation, not check-in, $100/stay toward incidentals charged to the room. Now you will get Amex Reward points if you are a member of that program.
