T&C Question - "Valid in Connection With...Conventions"
I'm signed up for a Marriott "Free Night Stay Promotion" offering one free night for every 2 stays, awarded as an e-cert.
One of my upcoming stays involves a special rate at a convention. This text is in the Marriott Terms and Conditions: Marriott Rewards e-certificates are valid only in connection with individual travel and are not applicable to group travel, package tours, conventions or other special rates and/or package programs. I'm unsure of what this means. Does this mean I will, or will not, get stay credit for the convention?Thank you. |
I'm going to say a big "maybe". It seems like you are dead to rights via the T&C's but often IME what the marketing/legal folks dream up and impose isn't programmed by IT to do so. So, good luck.
As insurance, you might want to see the best rate you can do without the convention special (often they are no real bargain other than to hold the room) and stay under that. Then there would be no question that you qualify. On second read though, the text talks about the e-cert, not the earning of it - maybe they are saying you can't use the certificate for a convention or other "special" rates? Good old Marriott, always ambiguous, all the time - whether its sloppiness or by design, other they know! |
