Was it just the nights that didn't post or the points too?

Maybe the nights posting is a fallout of the points posting. So if the property posts the points the nights will too. It's too bad everyone the OP has talked with points to someone else being responsible.

In my experience, if the hotel did it right, the nights and points would post simultaneously.

If the hotel did it incorrectly, the points would post, but not the nights.

Except now that Marriott Plat gives you UA silver it makes sense for some (at least me) to maintain Marriott plat even if it means a couple meetings. The one I have next week would have happened regardless, I might have to squeeze one or two more out to ensure I keep status. Moving closer to lifetime status is a perk as well with the nights.

Fair point on the UA Status. I guess it didn't cross my mind since I find that relatively useless too ;)

Just to confirm: this is still going in in 2014, correct? After my new project is in striking distance from home I might fall short about 10 nights from Plat, so one meeting would ensure requalification...

If someone has templates for emails or a step-by-step guide for this, my gratitude for sharing this would be huge!

Thanks for your Input ob this!

Greetings - Dirk

Exdon, mind PMing it to me as well? Thanks!

Got a lot of PM...
I just sent contact details of my German meeting mgr. If not based in Germany this would be no help.

These "meetings" are still possible?

I read through some posts but a quick visit to Marriott's Rewarding Events page shows that you earn 10 elite nights if you book 10+ guest rooms for at least one night

Am I missing something?

Yes. Take a look at this thread I maintain and scroll down to the second to last item in the OP. There are several links to direct mentions of the 10 elite nights, several of which state that you need the meeting, not the rooms.

Yes, you missed reading the thread in which you are posting that clearly points out your second sentence is incorrect.

Will I earn Elite status by booking meetings and events with Marriott?

As a Rewards member, you will earn 10 Elite nights for each group, meeting or event in addition to the points or miles earned for any qualifying charge.

Thanks

This is what I read...

What types of meetings and events qualify to earn points or miles?

As a Rewards member, you are qualified to earn points or miles with your signed Group Sales agreement or contract for any social event, meeting or room block that actualizes to at least 10 rooms for one night.
I guess I equated that room block as a requirement coupled with the meeting.

And you will come across many Marriott Event Specialists who don't understand the rule (because they haven't processed it before). They don't bother going past the main web page and FAQ to the T&C that states you just have to book a meeting. My advice: be patient, mention you had a colleague that had this same issue (to reinforce you aren't making this up), and post the T&C. Also, be sure to follow the T&C that states you need to have a signed contract. That shouldn't be a problem since they always sent me one beforehand.

I think that means you can get the credit with a room block and no meeting space taken. (I don't know if you can get double credit for both a room block and a meeting room rental.)

Need clarification on 10 night conference room benefit

I searched and couldn't find a definitive answer about the circumstances where one gets the 10 elite nights for booking a conference room (without accompanying rooms). In essence, I want to churn conference rooms to hit gold in time for my RTW trip in October. I'll need 34 nights.

My mom, a Plat, says that getting the 10 elite night credit w/o booking associated rooms is a platinum-only benefit. I can't find anywhere in the T&Cs that say that. I'm a silver (via credit card). I also just accepted a job that has 50% travel that starts in Nov, so i'll definitely be keeping the status. I just need to get a boost to gold.

Can someone help me?
