Ten (10) Elite Nights are given for each meeting held in a participating hotel under the "Rewarding Events" program. See below for non-participating brands. Information about the Rewarding Events program may be found at https://www.marriott.com/meeting-eve...els/rewards.mi

The 10 elite nights per meeting are independent of any hotel rooms booked in conjunction with the meeting. In fact, no hotel rooms have to be booked as part of the meeting in order to receive credit for 10 elite nights.

Although the Rewarding Events webpage refers to room nights for meeting participants, the most important section is the one that states 10 Elite Nights, regardless if you or your guest is paying for it

In general, a written contract is required (or should be obtained). In many cases, the meeting is booked through a central Marriott group sales office instead of directly with a hotel. If booked through a central Marriott group sales office, there is a three-page contract that makes reference to the Rewarding Events program on page 2 of the agreement. A MR member number should be included in this area of the contract by the group sales office.

FAQs:

Q: What brands participate in the Rewarding Events program?
A: AC Hotels by Marriott, Aloft, Autograph Collection, Courtyard by Marriott, Delta Hotels by Marriott, EDITION, Element, Fairfield by Marriott, Four Points by Marriott, Gaylord Hotels, JW Marriott, LeMéridien, The Luxury Collection, Marriott Hotels, Marriott Vacation Club, Moxy Hotels, Protea Hotels by Marriott, Renaissance Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton, Sheraton, St. Regis, Tribute Portfolio, W Hotels, & Westin.
Residence Inn by Marriott, TownePlace Suites, & Marriott Executive Apartments do not participate in the program.

Q: How do I find a hotel that participates?
A: Click on the link to the Rewarding Events page and then in the "Plan" section of the page click on the "Find a Hotel" box. Enter the city you'd like to have your meeting in, purpose of event (Business) and then check the "I need meeting/event space" box. Enter the size of your meeting (2 attendees should work) and then click the "Find" box. Leave the start date and end date blank. A list of potential hotels will be shown. The smallest meeting room is not usually shown online --- you may need to call each hotel to find out which one has a boardroom or other small meeting room. Once you've found a small meeting room, then request a quote online.

Q: How quickly will Marriott respond with a quote?
A: Usually within a day or two --- and usually via email. The email should contain a telephone number of the group sales contact. Give them a call and tell them you'd like to follow up on the quote and you're interested in booking the smallest room available for a 2 person meeting for an hour. If they quote a price that's higher than you want to pay, ask them if they can get approval for a lower priced meeting (e.g., a recent quote was for $75 for an 8 hour use of a CY boardroom). They accepted a counter of $50 for a one-hour meeting in the room (plus service charge plus local sales tax). Urban hotels may charge significantly higher rates for meeting space than a smaller, less congested city.

Q: Is a contract required?
A: The terms of the program suggest "yes" --- although there are reports that 10 elite nights have been granted without contracts. A best practice would be to obtain a contract.

Q: How long do points and EQNs take to post after the event is over?
A: Generally, this takes 3+ business days. According to Marriott, it can take 15 business days. If you do not see anything post after 15 business days, contact the hotel before contacting Marriott customer support. The hotel has to be the one to post it.

You will get an e-mail with a subject line Your Rewarding Events Award has Posted: EVENT NAME

Q: Will the hotel know what I am talking about when I say points and elite night credits?
A: Probably not. They may know about the rewarding events points being 3x per dollar spent, but not always. Usually they know of only the Marriott system (Group Posting Tool) where they input how much you spent and when. This is done after the event and is usually authorized by the sales or general manager.

Q: The contract doesn't say anything about points, will I still earn them?
A: YMMV but so far all the electronic contracts from the website state it, but some fail to read it. The paper contracts usually talk about points, but some reports that they don't, but still post. Remember this is a Marriott Rewards benefit that the hotels don't seem to be footing the bill for.

thanks for the data point (and congrats, to you and to dualrated2!).

i'm still going back and forth with my property, i'm missing points and nights from 14 meetings going back to may. i'm communicating with the hotel GM, who insists he's posting things correctly but something isn't working. he says he's been in contact with his boss, who needs to sign off on the points, but they're both stymied by the lack of a link or a button or something to get the points/nights posted correctly. he's been discouraging me from calling marriott (again) as if i do, there will be another case opened against the hotel, and marriott will just call him, but i'm kind of at a loss as to what i should be doing instead.

i know he's got other stuff to do, but would like him to prioritize this and get it done. it's been nearly two months since the first meeting and NOTHING has posted. i called him yesterday, he said he was 'working on it,' i called today and he ducked my calls. he says if i call marriott, they'll just call him, which is likely true, but it seems if he's really trying to get this done and is unable, there should be some kind of help desk--like at the airlines--to walk him and/or his boss through the process.

i got a response back from marriott customer care from the case i opened back in early june explaining the particulars of the rewarding events program and asking for the specific dates of my stays if i still felt i needed help. i provided that info via email, although if it takes as long as it did to get a response to the last email, it'll be august before i hear something back.

i'm wondering if the 'missing stay' form goes somewhere else and is worth trying. anyone know?

Wow, 14? You poor thing. Holy cow. Just did my first today. A BEO one-pager. They are swearing on a stack of bibles it'll work. I'm trying multiple properties as perhaps YMMV with each and until one works, I'm in a freewill myself. Some good eggs here PMing help so am hopeful their leads, and the few I unearthed by dialing away, may be fruitful, but I've got to think you did your homework and given that, it is disconcerting to say the least. I hope it gels for you and everything posts.

See my post a few above. I too had a 1 page simple form. IMO, it's best to have conversation with them ahead of the meeting about the rewarding events promotion and to make sure they understand how to post.

Roger that. Had them write me an email confirming it was a qualified Rewarding Event and that I would have the 10 elite nights posted to my MR account. The told me they were unable to insert that into the "Misc" box on the lower left. I am doing five through the weekend and will gamble and see. Time is so tight I'll take the chance.

Just do one and see if posts. No point doing so many and doesn't work properly.

Be out of pocket especially when the program merges

This might seem really basic, but are they using your MR number correctly (ie, without typos)?
Group Posting Tool should be working w/o a hitch, although I've never seen the interface myself.
There should not be a delay more than a day at most, let alone an hour. I usually get it within an hour of the coordinator posting to GPT.

it's worth a shot. i'm slated to talk with the GM this morning, if he doesn't duck me...i'll confirm that we both have it correct. (it's correct on the contracts, and i'm getting points for the spend on the marriott card, but you never know.)

The important term is Group Posting Tool, if they have used that then everything should be automatic with MR. The property does not pony up the nights and therefore should not have to do anything other than use the GPT. If they don't know what that is, then MR should be able to help them out.

no, they say they've used the group posting tool. they said when i started all this that they participated in rewarding events and used the group posting tool to post meetings--i asked about that when i met with them originally.

i just got off the phone with the GM, he sounded exasperated--as am i, frankly--and says he was on the phone with marriott yesterday and they're trying to figure out what is going on. thanks izzik, they double checked my marriott number yesterday, it's correct. apparently my responding to the marriott email opened ANOTHER case against the hotel, which wasn't my intent--i figured responding to an email with a case number on it would simply escalate the existing case--and didn't make him very happy...but i feel we're running out of time as august is rapidly approaching, and he's clearly at a loss as to how to fix this.

i asked him what his next step was, he said that he doesn't have a next step, really, he's just trying to 'get this over with.' great, me too.

While the GM may be exasperated, there wouldn't be a problem if the meetings were recorded properly. If a meeting is input correctly, the points and nights will show up with 24 hours. One problem to watch out for is the hotel may try to combine separate meetings into one posting which would reduce your total nights credit to 10. I am not sure why Marriott opens a new case when a member responds, but I had the same issue.

thank you for the reminder. i'm feeling guilty as he did help me by allowing no-show meetings, but you're right that this wouldn't be an issue if he had performed as he agreed he would. also helpful to know opening new cases is just how marriott works. i'll update as i have more info.

It's sounding like the cases are being opened by the regular CSRs where they have to deal with the property. There is a Rewarding Events group that may the the answers everyone needs. You might try a search of this thread to find a specific address for that team.

I found a good property that posts quickly, and will post multiple meetings separately without some of the confusion I've read about in this thread. Weekend meetings post the following Monday or Tuesday. I only wish I had found them sooner before I wasted time with some others (I'm still chasing down a meeting from the first week of May). I ended up booking several follow up meetings with this property so will most likely just stick with them to get the remainder of the nights I need.

Grumpy because the Courtyard I used last year, and got a pretty good rate at ($60++) will not give me anything below $250 this year! The Sales person has moved on and the new girl isn't interested in doing anything to help. Grrrr.

Now need to find somewhere that will do 2 meetings for me at a reasonable price; hopefully no show ones.

If you look up-thread, others (including myself) have only had the BEO as well. As always, it depends on how the event/sales manager posts the points. I got my nights with only the BEO and ensured my contact knew my MR number.
