I was treated very well as a platinum at the Marriott Beachside Resort in Key West. I received breakfast vouchers for a great buffet every day, and an upgrade to a 1 bedroom villa with full kitchen with subzero appliances and great balcony. There is not really a beach (this is Key West), but the property is beautiful and the service was excellent. You do not want a std room, since they are really 'lockoffs' of a condo and are very small. I would expect an upgrade to 1BR would be available when you plan to travel.
In my opinion, Key West has gotten too crowded and commercialized in the past 5 yr., but many people still like it. Another all suite hotel is the Marriott Suites Palm Beach on Singer Island, FL. We haven't stayed at this hotel, but own two timeshares in the area and love the beach. Good information. While we are still traveling fools, our travels take us out of the country. I can't imagine flying to a place in the USA for an actual vacation (Hawaii excluded, of course). Too many other cultures to soak up! Even going to Mexico is pretty cool because even though we aren't that far from home, it is still a different country and you know it as soon as you hit the ground! Anyway, I can't see going to Florida unless I had family there....our California weather is much nicer (IMHO)....perhaps for a pre/post cruise, but there is something that I do love about Key West. I think we'll just have to realize that we aren't going to be able to stick to 8 hours or less. I'm looking at Tokyo right now....not that much more! I did look at Cairo but the 20-33 hours is more than either one of us wants to deal with....I definitely want to go to Paris as well...love to return to Ireland but have a lot more places on our bucket list before we start repeating countries! (except Mexico which is only 2:45 hour flight) Thanks all...have to revisit the flight situation....that or book another cruise. Dawn |
If you've got the vacation time, break up the trip. Fly to east coast for example, overnight, & then fly to Europe. If going the opposite direction, fly to Hawaii perhaps & then onward? BTW - I heard good things about the JW in Costa Rica recently.
Cheers. |
