Category 2 or 3 on the beach?
I am looking to use my Points to take my family on vacation this summer. Are there any beachfront category 2 or 3 hotels anyone knows about? I would love to stay somewhere right on the beach but only use 40,000 points!

But alas, the lowest category Oceanfront property is the Virginia Beach Fairfield Inn Oceanfront. It's a Category 4. |

This courtyard is actually on a great beach, very beautiful. The rooms were ok, but you can't beat the location at a category 4. They don't recognize elites at all and do not upgrade at all.

my guess is the op doesn't have status if he only has 40K in the books and doesn't know where to go to use them
regardless of status, 40K is not going to get you very far for very long if it requires a beach |
Another domestic cat 4's by the beach.
I haven't been to it, so no recommendation is given. |
Courtyard Gulfport Beachfront: I've stayed and did fine, though my main purpose was gambling, not tanning. :D :D :D
It's a former Holiday Inn that got slammed by Katrina, rebuilt and rebranded. Rooms facing the Gulf have great views; rooms facing north might as well have frosted glass windows - nothing to "view" on that side. The beach is wide open and flat, but you have to walk across a busy road to get to it. For restaurants, you'll have to drive - the hotel is pretty isolated in its spot. Flat panel TVs in the room but they're small - 27". |
Ok, so its got to be as cheap as chips, in fact cheaper, free
And on the seafront, no more than a cat 3. Well, you could go for Marriott Doha, Qatar, serviced by the excellent Qatar Airways, this hotel will cost you only 40,000 points for 5 nights... if you can get it on Pointsavers ;) |
I have stayed at Jensen a couple of times. The beach is nice though rather windy. If the weather is cool that really throws a damper on things. Of course, April-October that is not much of a concern in FL.
Both times I stayed I was given an ocean-view room, and thought it very nice. |
