How quick will points post

I have never really watched how quick my points posted but I am in a pinch now. Am staying at a Courtyard on March10. I am about 6K points short of my 100,000 pt level so I was hoping to get the point with a credit card statement that should be posting tomorrow as well as the 5K bonus. Can anyone tell me if the points will be posted in that short of time so i will not have to buy the 6K points I need.

Thanks in advance.

Forgot to mention but my stay in Cancun starts on March 16th so I am hoping the timing will be sufficient to get the points onto my account in time for the trip.

You're staying one night at a courtyard on March 10th, and you need the points from that stay for a reward stay you have booked for the 16th?

The way I read your post, you need these points, even if you get the credit card points, yes? And you've already made the award reservation?

The points from the stay should post by the 16th, without a problem. Usually, my points post two days after checkout, meaning you'd have your points by the end of the 13th. I'm not 100% sure about the bonus, but if your bonuses have been posting as you go (rather than having to be manually adjusted later), then it should post with the room.

The problem you'll have isn't with the points posting by the 16th, though. If you've already made the reservation, I'd be worried that the system will try to sweep the points out of your account about a week before your stay - at that time, you won't have enough. I don't know what happens when you don't have the points at that time.

So I don't have until the 15th or so to come up with the points? My first night in the stay is March 16th. I am staying at a Courtyard and would get the 5K bonus for my second night stay. Guess I will have to call Marriott and see what they can tell me. I was hoping to not have to buy the 6K points. Oh well. Not a big deal. Just $72 for the points.

I'm sure I read on the T&C's, ah, yes...

6. Members who seek to make a Rewards Redemption with an insufficient point balance may make the Rewards Redemption and either (1) choose to purchase points to make a valid Rewards Redemption, provided that the aggregate amount of points purchased and received as a gift by the member is less than or equivalent to 50,000 points per calendar year; or (2) the member accrues sufficient points to use points for payment of the Rewards Redemption no less than seven days prior to arrival. If point purchase is not an option, or if member does not have sufficient points to use for a Rewards Redemption intended to be paid with points seven days or less from arrival date, member will forfeit any Rewards Redemption and must call 1800 MARRIOTT to re-book the reservation at the best available rate for which the member qualifies.

So, by the looks of that they'll cancel the reservation if they cant sweep it out your account 7 days before the stay. Against that, bonuses generally credit automatically on the day you qualify for them, but even so, that only happens once the hotel posts the points on Marriott.com, and that wont happen for a day or 2 after the stay.

All too late I think, but I'd have a word with MR eilte line, you never know they may be able to give you some leeway, after all they have access to your forthcoming reservations...
