Calendar year or 52week period?
I've earned 60 nights (gold status) from June 2009 - Dec 31, 2009. I will be earning another 20 nights by March 2010.
I've read in the forums that nights accumulation are calendar year and will restart in Dec 31,2009 <-- making it unable for me to gain Platinum Status. I've heard that Marriott allows you to earn Platinum Status if you stay 75 nights within 52 weeks and disregards the calendar year rule. Can anyone confirm either statement? Thanks |
Earning status by rolling year is an unpublished benefit. I have gotten it to platinum so I can confirm, it will show up about 1 week after nights post that make you eligible.
Cheers. |
A point of clarification is that the 12-month rolling calendar is used when reaching a higher elite level. Once you reach a specific elite level, to keep it, you need to have the appropriate number of nights within a calendar year.

thanks guys

Glad this was asked, as I'm looking at a similar situation. I will have 60 nights this calendar year, requalifying for Gold, and I will likely get 15 nights early next year.
So, using the rolling 12-month calendar for gaining the higher level, I would need to hit night #15 of 2010 on or before the one-year anniversary of night #1 of 2009 (in this case, early February) in order to make Platinum, correct? And then, using the calendar year for maintaining my current level, I would STILL need to log 75 nights between 1/1/10 and 12/31/10 to keep Plat in 2011? |

With that said, this year (and as far as we know I will only be for some nights earned this year) Marriott will Roll Over some nights and treat those nights as if you earned them next year. The email you received is referencing this one time offer. There is a separate thread discussing Marriott's Rolling Over of those nights into next year if you want more info on that. |
