Codes for joining Marriott Rewards Programme

Does anyone have any promotional codes for signing up to the rewards programme such as silver/gold membership or points?

Thanks

:)

Welcome to FT!

MarriottConcierge said the 'refer-a-friend' program where the referrer & the referree receive bonus points is not in place this year, so no love there. I believe if you get a Marriott Visa, it gives you Silver membership & a free 1-night Cat 1-4 certificate. Not aware of any promo for Gold, although I'm not up on all of that. If you're top tier w/ another program you might want to try for a status match to Silver or Gold.

Cheers.

It's a Chase affinity card, so there is a $65 annual fee. Right now the Visa has a promo that you get 30,000 Marriott pts after your first use. Other is reg: 5pts for every $1spend. 15 night credit, which gets you silver status. A free Cat 1-4 night cert every year you have the card.

Also, if you do join Marriott Rewards, there's a MegaBonus promo going on right now you can sign up for:

There are actually 3 different Marriott branded Visa cards for US residents. The Premier card that Sharon mentions tends to give the best overall benefits (more sign-up bonus points, more points for Marriott stays, a free night cert every year, etc.), but it does cost more than the other two with an annual fee of $65. And that annual fee is NOT waived even for the first year.

There is a Personal Signature Visa card, Personal Visa, that comes with fewer benefits and a lower annual fee of only $30. And the first year is free.

There is also a Business Visa card, Business Card, that also has fewer benefits and a lower annual fee of only $30. And the first year is free.

My personal preference is if one is planning on actually staying at Marriotts, then the Premier card, even with the higher annual fee, is the card to go with. The annual free night cert more than offsets the fee and after your first year the free night is a Cat. 1-5 (it is a Cat. 1-4 only the first year) which includes some Marriott resort properties.

Don't know if they have a UK Visa. You might want to send a private message (PM) to MarriottConcierge and ask.

Cheers.

There is indeed a UK Marriott Visa. It's issued by Halifax, there is no annual fee, you get 10,000 Marriott Reward points on first use, and it gives you 10 nights towards status each year (enough for Silver).

I believe you get something like 1 MR point for every £1 you spend (which is equivalent to about 0.6 MR points per $), or 2 MR points per every £1 spent at Marriotts - a very poor earning rate, so while it seems to be worth having, it's probably not actually worth using it.

I live in the UK and carry the MR credit card. Its fee free and gives 10 nights credit each year effectively givingyou silver status and 10,00 points on first use.

Thereafter you get 2 points per £ on all marriott purchases and 1 point per £ on all other purchases. This is equivalent to 3 points per $ on Marriott, and is comparable to the fee-free USA cards.

Its well worth it in my opinion if you stay regularly at marriotts, which I do and contributes well over 20,000 points each year to my totals!

Wouldn't mind if they brought the Chase affinity card to UK, though. I'd be taking it up :)
