Bump. Any updates with this property and how it compares to the Four Points. The downtown hotels are fully booked the weekend I'm looking, so may resort to staying in Richmond.

AZJ - please note that there is currently construction near the property, so if you want to sleep in request a room in the north tower which is furthest from the construction. Due to the construction there are some very good starpoint redemption options, I've seen 3K points per night which is steal IMHO

Sheraton YVR has a club lounge, offerings are better than I expected, they have scrambled eggs for breakfast while the Westin Wall Centre (airport Westin) does not have any hot breakfast entree in the lounge.

Sheraton YVR is also a VERY close (2 block) walk to a skytrain station which will take you downtown.

Both properties have an airport shuttle, Sheraton YVR operates every 30 minutes 24 hours a day, I'm not sure about 4 points frequency.

I have stayed at the 4 points as well, typical 4 points property, I do remember being annoyed by the elevators always smelling like cigarette smoke.

Parking - both properties charge, Sheraton YVR registers your license plate, 4 points makes you go back out to the lot and display a piece of paper on the dashboard (annoyance)

If you do stay at the Sheraton YVR be sure to check out Minouru park which is just across westminister highway from the hotel, its very beautiful.

no wonder Sheraton YVR is now CAT 2, while Four Points YVR increased to CAT 3

Great advice! Thanks for that. Yeah, I saw the 3000 point offer and thought it a bit odd. Though, I did get multiple booking error notices when attempting to book, so not sure what's going on with that, but finally got it to work. We're ending a cruise in Vancouver and flying out the next afternoon so was looking for an SPG property to stay at. The Westin Bayshore is fully booked and the Sheraton, which is the only one available wants over $500 USD. I've currently booked at the Pan Pacific for the sheer convenience and the rate, while expensive still beats the Sheraton and comes with breakfast. I'd be sacrificing a stay credit, which is disappointing, but might be worth sacrificing for the sake of convenience and maximizing time in the city, given our limited time. Being at the airport is most affordable, but the hassle of a double round trip from downtown to the hotel in one day isn't so appealing. Though... one option could be the post cruise tour of the city which includes drop off at any downtown or Richmond hotel. With this, all we'd have to do is take the Skytrain into the city for the afternoon/evening. Decisions... decisions...

The Sheraton was recently re-categorized to Cat 2, so it costs 3,000 points/nt on weekends and 4,000 points/nt during the week. 4P and Westin remained Cat 3 (somewhat mysteriously, because IME the rates are rather similar, and the Sheraton often seems to be more expensive than the 4P), so they run 7,000 points/nt.

I've stayed at the Sheraton perhaps a half dozen times during the last two years; IMO it's a credible airport hotel, with a decent club lounge, very friendly staff, and "upgrades" to a suite that's really no more than a large room. All three SPG hotels (along with the Marriott and Hilton) are fine for an overnight, but I wouldn't be excited to stay here if the goal was visiting Vancouver. It'll do as a last resort; the area isn't exciting, but at least the Skytrain is very close.

Unprofessional

Unprofessional I have stayed at this property many times over the last 7 years and have nothing to complain about until today. I am Platinum Starwood member and have been Gold or Platinum for the last 13 years. Most recently, I stayed at this property on May 22 for one night. Today, I received an email from a Hayman Tam, Assistant Front Office Manager, informing me that Engineering found a " bed board was broken" after my departure And they plan on charging me $150. This is absurd as I did not do anything to the bed. I contacted the property and of course no one knows what is happening with this claim and Mr Tam is not there presently. I am not a novice traveler. I have been on the road for the last 20 years and have never had an experience like this. I let it slide that they didn't bother to upgrade me to a Platinum level room. I let it slide that their club floor was atrociously under staffed and stocked the Saturday morning I went up to get a bite to eat, but this is absolutely ridiculous! I have great reservations about every staying at this property again let alone maintain any loyalty to Starwood.

Hi daibatsu1,

Sorry to learn about this issue. We would look into this with the hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel this past weekend, by using 3000 Starpoints.

The HDMI ports on the TV and the side media panel do not work. No idea why they would install a separate panel and still disable it.

It is close to the Chinese restaurants in Richmond area.

The front desk staffs were not friendly but I was given late check out of 4pm on Sunday. No upgrades or lounge access as a Gold. I got a room on the 6th (highest floor) on the South tower.

Parking is on a garage shared by Sheraton, Marriott and Hilton. It is about a 5 minute walk to lobby. 18.99 to park overnight and no Starpoints were given on that even it was on folio!? However Hilton and Marriott only charge 14.95 for the same identical spot.

I would totally recommend staying at Sheraton Vancouver Guildford instead, because of the newer property and convenient parking.

YUCK! I HATED that hotel.

If anything, i'd stay at the Westin Richmond (more $), or at the Four Points Richmond.

Sheraton Vancouver Guildford? Kill me first, slowly.

Just another data point for the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford. Stayed there as well and thought it was quite comfortable. Certainly did not hate it, but I don't remember it being remarkable in any way. One thing though; you definitely need a car if you're staying here.

I guess I was really turned off by the crappy AC system. The damn thing rattled. The 1990s called and they want their non central AC back

And it stank! Not as bad as the Sheraton Charlotte by the airport, but man that hotel...perhaps not a "shudders", but close. Thankfully I was drunk for most of the stay. ^

Surrey is nowhere near Richmond. The Guildford is about as far away as you can get in the Metro Vancouver area.

This property is definitely good value for points stays - as others have suggested. It is ludicrous to compare its location to the Sheraton Guildford. The Sheraton Vancouver Airport is 20 minutes from downtown via the Canada Line, whereas the Guidford is a bus and a train - (at best) a one hour commute:

http://tripplanning.translink.ca

Also, this property has an airport shuttle 2/x per hour.

My review is more mixed. Its definitely not a 4 Points (decent lounge, good outdoor pool, large Fitness area). On the other hand, the SPG Preferred Floor is not in the same tower as the lounge (?), the daily newspaper is USA Today (ugh!) & upgrades are hard to get).

I can recommend this property for short, cheap stays with definite access to downtown Vancouver.

Considering its location and convenience, 3000-4000pts staying here beats others. Also outdoor pool, club lounge, and gym are not disappointing. For me better than expected.
