I can't quite visualise where the terrace would be. On the pavement itself??
On a separate issue, the Sala pool area has a dedicated smoking area of a few tables, if I'm not mistaken in front of the Sala itself. Last time I was there, the first three or four sun-loungers pool level that you see, were also used by a couple of smokers. I am a non smoker and would love to see the whole area smoke free as I hate breathing in others' smoke irrespective of whether I'm eating or not. What exactly is the smoking policy? Tables only, or sun-loungers and tables? Mr. Chapman, could the whole pool / Sala area be a smoke free zone?

Regarding smoking at the Sala, a little more than a year ago on this forum, this subject came up and as a result we limited smoking to two tables and five sunbeds in the same area. This was an interim compromise to find a middle of the road solution. It’s difficult to meet the wishes of these two camps. With the opening of BarSu terrace from morning to 01.00 hrs. planned in May, we will revisit this issue. Pics of BarSu terrace will be forthcoming .
With kind regards,
Richard

For those who have Grande Club membership but not living in Thailand, note that the new terms and conditions have changed and the membership is no longer available to non-residents... <http://www.thegrandeclub.com>.

Richard, why would you turn your back on the loyal Grande Club members who are are not residents of Thailand? Surely this is a mistake.

Bar Su's Terrace pics.
The entrance to the terrace is exactly in the middle of the "upper deck". The "upper deck" seating has all been reconfigured. There are now high tables in the "fishbowls" rather than the oddly shaped tables and couch seating. All the other seating on the upper deck has been reconfigured for the better in my opinion.
The deck itself seems very nice, and it's about a half or one third of a level up from the sidewalk with no direct connection to the sidewalk.
The outside deck area was very smoky when we went out there, we didn't stay.
ETA: the flyertalk attachment thing seems to have incorrectly rotated all of the vertically oriented images. Deleting them from this post, will post them separately as I figure out how to compensate for that. (I had to rotate them left, save, rotate right, save and then it seemed to no longer want to rotate them. I also posted the vertically oriented ones in a separate post. No idea why it was confused as if the orientation info wasn't there after it uploaded the originals, but preview, finder, etc weren't confused about the orientation of the originals.)

Thanks for posting all the great photos, David. The terrace is a great addition to BarSu. Thanks for the Exec Brekkie pics too. It's a shame I can't get to the SGS until early August....
