I know at the last 3 Sheratons I stayed at: Tampa Riverwalk, North Houston and Park Anaheim, gave us vouchers for breakfast and an appetizer in the restaurant on the weekends.

Maybe Marriott will start doing that to complete with *wood.

And with the new policy, no breakfast certs are given out any longer on Sat/Sun, so a lot of properties that used to provide them are no longer doing so.

Are you joking? Motel 6 gives free breakfast.

A lot less ridiculous than (for example) paying $6000 to rent a big seat for a night for a trip from Sydney to London - which is effectively what a lot of business class flyers do... (that would be the differential between a discount economy and the average business class price)

Good luck trying to bring your own big seat on your next SYD-LHR trip!

At least you get free food and lounge access at the weekends...

That would just be ridiculous if you paid $6,000 and got a normal Y seat, no foods and no drinks...

You do realize that the Manhattan Beach Residence Inn with free breakfast and internet and parking is never more than $50 on weekends via PL.

Which is irrelevant to the actual topic ;) And as mentioned, I just picked MB Marriott at random.

And folks, let's not sidetrack the bathrobe thread w/ airline Y/C comparisons. There are lots of airline threads where that discussion takes place. ;)

Cheers.

Thought of this thread I started over a year ago this morning...

I've been periodically checking back on rates for some upcoming stays, one of which is in the DC area for the Capitol Do. Some FTers are staying at the Ren DuPont Circle, although not me due to it being more expensive. But I noticed the rate seemed to be lower, so thought I'd check as I'm using a EEO. Of course the lower rate was advance purchase, so can't be used. Fair enough.

The leisure rate was still the same: $179 (I'm getting Keybridge Marriott for $119 LR, so decided to stick w/ that). But - right below it was the exec level for $349! I checked the room details & yup, it shows the lounge is closed for the weekend & no mention of brekkie certs. So - for a weekend stay you'd be paying $170 EXTRA a night for the bathrobe. Now hopefully someone would read the room details & say no way, but if they didn't & paid the extra they'd probably be pretty cranky to discover that Marriott offered up the room for that much extra $$ w/o anything extra really being provided. Also, weirdly enough the exec level room shows a max of 2 people, but the non-exec level room shows a max of 4.

Cheers.

Lately, i have had to call and ASK for the robe! LOL....the Presidential suite in PHL DT didn't have one, but the rooms in ATL did...HOWEVER, more often than not, I have to call and ask! So I would be made if I was paying 170 extra and it wasn't there!:D:rolleyes:
