I agree.I have stayed at this EXCELLENT property 3 times now(very convinient to my work in LAS)and was upgraded to a one bedroom unit once.I would go with a one bedroom and a small studio if possible-if you are planning on having any family time/meals in the room-the one bdrm has a full kitchen and dining table.
otherwise(If you are just going to be eating out/sightseeing 2 studios would be fine.
If two of the four are kids you could get away with just getting a one bedroom unit but having the extra bathroom would be handy.

Hope you noted my caution about this being away from the Strip?

Just spent 2 nights at this property and I agree with the previous positive comments.

The room, bed, and shower are all very nice and comfortable. My only nit-pick it that the TV in my room was mounted off to the side, so that you can't view it head-on while in bed. You can see it fine, it is just a bit odd.

I appreciated the kitchen supplies and small 24/7 convenience store behind the check-in desk.

Free internet is WONDERFUL! I don't understand why all hotels can't provide this service - it's 2010!

The free breakfast, while limited on choices, was also good.

The free breakfast and internet really make this place good value for money.

Not the place to stay if you don't have a car or want to be on the strip. I knew that but ended up having to take a cab once. It was about a $40 cab ride to get to the strip.

When trying to book a room, the SPG site suggests in the room details that there is a "hot breakfast" included in the rate for all the rooms. What is included in the hot breakfast?

Hot breakfast sandwiches and/or hot breakfast burritos have been the norm at the elements where I've stayed.

I just looked for this weekend and there is an AAA b'fast rate loaded for about $20 more per night than the regular AAA rate. As there is no real restaurant in this place-and b'fast is free to all I would be a little miffed if I were a Kettle

Just had my first Element stay here in Summerlin. Great location, friendly employees, very clean. Overall not a bad experience but not my cup of tea. Reminded me of my days in the military...everything was so "sterile" looking. A personal pet peeve is the soap/shampoo in a dispenser in the shower. Always hated that so steer clear of the Aloft.

Some things that would have made things a little better would be 1-2 bottles of water in the fridge (maybe used used to it as a plat) and more than one coffee packet.

Would pick over an Aloft but would go to a Westin or Sheraton over the Element if I had a choice........

I've stayed here several times but always during the week. Is the breakfast in the lobby only on weekdays? Do they still serve the full assortment of food on Saturdays and sundays?

Enjoyed first Element experience; Beware doors

Just completed my first Element stay here in Summerlin yesterday.

PROS: Overall, I like the concept and enjoyed my stay. As a Plat, I was upgraded to a 1BR suite, which I found to be quite modern and spacious. Liked the "condo" layout, although I didn't really use the kitchenette. I was initially turned off by the shampoo and body wash dispenser, but it grew on me. If given the choice I'd rather have the personal-sized bottles, but not a deal breaker. The breakfast was one of the best spreads I've seen for a free offering. Hot breakfast sandwiches, cereals, yogurts, very fresh fruit salad, nice selection of beverages and more that I can't recall. Staff was nice and professional.

CONS: I had to change rooms twice because the first two rooms I was given on the second floor did not lock. Prior to having my laptop stolen 3 weeks ago at a Hyatt, I had never really checked to make sure the door locked. With the service guy watching, I was able to open the door from the outside without a key. My third room was on a different floor and locked fine. Staff apologized profusely and noted that they would make sure the problem wasn't more widespread. I hope they figured the issue out.

So I ended up using some FWN awards at this property and I have to say that the breakfast is slightly better than on the weekdays. They actually have scrambled eggs, sausage, and pancakes (with strawberries and/or syrup) in addition to the standard fare that they have during the week. Not bad for a family with picky kids. ^

I also discovered the Red Rock Casino which is just one freeway exit away. That place could become my favorite off-strip hotel and casino because it was so nice.... I could see why its a local's favorite.

At this property again for the weekend. the breakfast buffet has been expanded slightly.
I really enjoy staying here-especially on work stays. So nice to feel like you are coming home to a nice studio apartment rather than dealing with the hassles of staying in a casino hotel.

Thumbs up Solid hotel if you need to be in the area

I stayed at this property over columbus day weekend. I was given comp stays over at RIO for 3 nights but had booked this room for one night as I needed the stay credit for my plat status. I thought it would be sorta close to the strip but it was not. At 630am, After partying for 3 full days I checked out of my giant 2,000sq ft suite at the RIO which had not slept in for a second. I desperately wanted to get off the strip. I had been up all night drinking. I took a cab from the strip which was almost 50 bucks if im not mistaken. Keep in mind my room was booked for the previous night and I was marked as a no show. The front desk was cool and issued me a room no problem. I clearly looked like hell as the manager insisted I got some breakfast. They had a nice looking buffet set up in the lobby and I had at it. I grabbed a gratis egg mcmuffin and a nice big glass of apple juice, nice touch element! Upon entering my room, it was like I had arrived in heaven. New, spotless and comfy studio suite. I took a hot shower, ate my free breakfast and passed out in great heavenly bed. I couldnt have asked for anything more. Wake up call was prompt around 4pm and I checked out as my flight was just a few hours away. Do not stay here if you want to be anywhere near the strip. However, if business or something else requires you to be close to this area, this is a great place to crash!

Very nice room and I love how quiet it is.

Hope to see more Elements opening soon

Staying here for one night. JP upgraded me to a nice, quiet one bedroom suite. I like the layout, kinda similar to Homewood Suites.
