Seems expensive considering its a preview invitation?
Thoughts/ experiences appreciated.
Thx
I always ask if there is an option to upgrade to 1BR at booking, sometimes this is only $50 per day. If you do select the rental car option, book it immediately or you may not be able to

The car rental alone is probably worth about $500.

Then they should be sued for false advertising. I doubt I could get 6 days anywhere for $180.

Thats the beauty of timeshares. Some people love them others not so much.

Im in the camp that you should stay away from them. Lots of promises but never quite what they advertise. Once you are a member, you typically have no recourse.

As I say above some people love them. Lets tally responses up

Safety in numbers I guess, but the sharks must eventually get a few, huh.

For Hawaii Right Now That Is a Pretty Good Deal For a Property of That Quality

Got an preview offer for this property.
- 5 Nights on Maui for $1,195 with 15 Months to Travel
Includes:

- Plus your choice of one of the following:
15,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points, OR a 6‑Day Avis Rental Car, OR a $75 Resort Certificate for dining or select activities

Can be one of several properties (but I would guess it will be north of Kaanapali and on a good snorkel beach. Unfortunately you have to sit through the presentation and it is painful to say no. If you are young enough and really like the property it may even be a good deal for you. At my age I can't see why I would want to buy, and regret that in a moment of weakness I signed up for another one this summer.

The Marriott and Hilton presentations weren't that hard to say "no" to. They assertive but not over-the-top aggressive. You can say no.

That said, I think I'd want a better deal than a $200/nt studio room. I used to occasionally get the Marriott Kauai offer - $599 for 5 nights in a regular room or $749 for a 1-bedroom villa. Also included something the $150 in Avis credit. But I haven't seen that one in a couple years.

I've always wondered, what's Marriott's incentive to keep the sales pitches low-pressure, particularly on Maui? For a while, I've read that these are easy to walk away from, with a great travel package for just a 2-hour time investment.

There are enough people who do not walk away that it pays Marriott to subsidize rooms.

Of course anybody who has done any research knows that you can buy legacy weeks at a 30-99% discounts depending on the week (some low season weeks are $1 because people don't want to pay maintenance anymore). Now to be fair Hawaii timeshares tend to hold their value better than most, but still cheaper to buy resale.
