Stayed here for the first time over the weekend. There's nothing really wrong with the hotel and it's in a great location (for me), but it's my least favourite of the comparable Manhattan hotels. My room was smaller and felt older than the Four Points Chelsea (despite me being told I was upgraded to one of the largest rooms) and you'd never choose to stay at a Four Points over a Sheraton.

Would be happy to stay again if the other options were not available/ at crazy pricing, but I wouldn't seek it out.

Bolding mine. Not so for everyone. I’d take the Four Points Chelsea or Times Square easily over the monstrously large Sheraton Times Square. To each, their own. (I’ve not yet stayed at this FP Soho location.)

If I wrote the review today I'd have added a note "except for really terrible Sheratons", which describes the Sheraton Times Square well. At the time I had in my head the Sheraton Tribeca (a marginally better Four Points but with Lounge, etc.) and to a degree the much maligned former Sheraton JFK. I would say the Four Points Soho is the worst of the three mentioned, but still preferable to the rudderless cruise ship of the Sheraton Times Square.

Can anyone compare this to the Courtyard right around the corner?

Those rooms cost a bit more and use about 50% more Marriott points, but if the hotel is substantially nicer, I'll spring for it.

Just booked a stay in Sept at the Four Points SoHo. Seems to be the only non-Downtown hotel that you can use the 35k cert at. The reviews are mediocre but the location is decent.
