I hope you also spent a few minutes in the little museum on the history of the building on the way to the observation deck.

Barely! I only had 2min yesterday to view the obv deck before I had to feed the meter. ;) But I'm hoping to get back up there today. The views were gorgeous! (Well, especially yesterday....)

Revitalizing this thread to post a lucky rainbow shot I got of the W this evening.

Next time I'm in town, I want to try out this property despite the mixed reviews.

Had a one night stay before an event, Booked a Spectacular and was upgraded without notification to the suite. Upon arrival I was told I was upgraded to the WOW suite which did show in the app and was probably there before arrival and I just didn't check again as I'm used to just getting the regular suite. After the warm welcome I went to my room and found a note from management thanking me for being Ambassador and giving me a little card for a free coffee next door. I stay here usually 1 night or 2 nights max a year and appreciate this hotel. The rooms itself seem to be only 2 to a floor as they wrap around as a L in the hallway.

Just a note though, if you sleep in the "master" bedroom the hallway noise is quite a bit if there happens to be a wedding party also in the building.

Single night paid stay at the W Foshay two nights ago - in MPLS for evening with Mrs. G to attend Sunday afternoon class at the Cooks of Crocus Hill with two good friends (which ultimately was cancelled on us and led to four of us having early dinner and drinks at Young Joni and post-dinner beers at Indeed (tried for Dangerous Man next door, but was closed for private event). Intentionally stayed here because (1) wanted to partake in 30th floor observation deck; (2) to cross "W" off the list of Marriott brands I hadn't yet stayed at; (3) to kill an SNA that I hadn't otherwise yet earmarked for anything. (Also speculatively booked the Rand Tower as my other alternative, but that hotel did not offer SNA options.) as

Booked Spectacular King at AAA rate which included valet parking. SNA cleared into Fantastic suite 5 days out. Impressions and gut reactions:
* Lobby is very "W" - dark, painfully hip, and Vegas-like in atmosphere. Thankfully, Fantastic suite on 25th floor (corner) was replete with many windows and lots of natural light, terrific views.
* Despite my apprehensions, minimal noise in room other than rustling of wind outside and the groaning and gasping of the HVAC - likely helped by fact that 25th floor suites only 4 to floor and it was a Sunday night (avoided weekend, and avoided most of business associated with Big 10 women's basketball tournament which had just concluded that afternoon).
* Attractively furnished, though lighting controls not intuitive (at least not to us - took 10 minutes to finally identify how to turn mood lighting behind bed off). Appreciated the Nespresso. Fridge was in room, but was not operational; clearly *had* been used as mini-bar at some point (all items now removed presumptive post-COVID), but odd that it wasn't set up to chill/work as general use fridge.
* Mattress was comfortable, but pillows were too insubstantial - wound up grabbing a throw pillow from sofa to supplement.
* Good water pressure in rainfall shower, but door to stall slammed shut, even with gentle coaxing to close. Mrs. G tried out tub - not large enough to truly stretch out, but enjoyed the nighttime view through window while soaking.
* Valet polite, quick on both drop-off and pick-up (latter flagged through texting - had car pulled up in less than 5 minutes from request).

Big picture: Fair stay, though not amazing. I fully recognize that I have already aged beyond the W's target demographic - thankfully, the Foshay seems to be a "milder" version of that aesthetic, tempered quite a bit by the historic bones of the building (and the nods and touches to that history in the decor).
