A data point on upgrade prices from beach to overwater villa: before arrival on email, I got a quote of 600/nite. I ignored that. On arrival in the seaplane lounge, I was told "normal price" would be 300/nite, but for a Gold today "special price" would be 200/nite. Decided to upgrade half of our stay to overwater for that price. During the stay there were couple of funny discussions with the staff, who seemed to be aware that we had actually paid for upgrade and they made it sound a bit like it was not that common to pay for the upgrades. In the end, they did not charge us anything for the upgrade. That might have been a service recovery / a favour for some mishaps during the stay. I never asked and nothing was communicated and I left it at that. So we went gradually from 600/nite to 0/nite.

Both the beach villa and the overwater villa are very nice. Different, but nice in their own way. I don't think the overwater is worth a 600/nite upgrade for sure...

Thanks for the DP. I’m going to take my chances then and wait until check in, ask for an upgrade, and take the 200/night if they offer.

Good story. Bad spelling of the word night.

Was this upgrade opportunity a point or cash booking?

I'll be going in a couple weeks! Super excited!! Anyone who is there now:
- is the 35% discount for Plats or higher still going on?
- anyone try the free photography session?
- is it possible to get room service breakfast like at Conrad Maldives if you have the breakfast amenity?
- I saw in the April guide "3:30-5:30 pm Retox and Repeat Sips", anyone know what this is?

Here now.
35% off for Plat+ still on.

Did not try the photography session.
And never went to the Sip bar before 5:30pm, it’s too hot.

Hi, i’ve booked a 5 nights stay on-points in wonderful beach oasis. Based on privacy, sunset-view position and beach-side (101-114 vs 115-128) what are the best rooms I can ask for? I think that rooms from 119 till 122 could be a good choice because they’re not directly in front of coral terrace, not too close to SPA or SIP/FISH, on the opposite side of welcome-jetty,…what do you think?

Thanks! ;-)

Pretty sure we were specifically told the Plat benefit did not cover room service breakfast.

I think your analysis about proximity to the spa and Fish is correct, although none of the beach villas will really have anything for a sunset view except possibly 128, which isn't very private. IIRC there is also varying degrees of beach erosion around the island, and some villas were particularly bad in this respect with almost no beach left (each villa has two beach chairs out front, and for some those chairs were basically up in the grass in front of the villa since there was essentially no beach left to put them on). I apologize that I don't really remember where it was worst. I do remember the first few villas near Fish having decent beach, though; all things considered, something like 125-127 might not be too bad.

Couple of quick thoughts on privacy:

- The island is tiny and pretty packed. Do not expect robinson crusoe -like experiences at any point - the staff is living in the middle of the island and you can hear them pretty well from the beach oasis villas, for example playing football in the evenings. Also you can hear the buggys driving past, playing music etc. I think some other resorts in Maldives are more peaceful and private because they simply have more land area and are not as fully built or the staff has an island of their own. I'm not saying we were annoyed or disturbed at any point, just that the denseness is something that we noticed and also discussed with my wife during our stay.
- The beach oasis villas have rooftop terraces from where you can see to the other villa's pool, deck etc. there are some differences how much from which villa to the next but something to keep in mind.
- A beach villa from somewhere around the middle of the island on either side I think is the most private, but the above points still apply
- For what it's worth, we felt much more private and peaceful in the overwater villa. Again, don't get me wrong, the beach villa is also great, but not as private.

Just left the W. Stayed at 125, beach erosion from 124 - 126 are the worse on the island. Best from 123 and toward the arrival jetty.

Agree with the limited sunset view from the beach villas, better luck for sunrise.

How long has it been taking on average for stays to post? It’s been 5 days and I’ve already had a subsequent stay post but not the W.

(Massive 3,000 word review coming soon btw).

Hi there,

It may take up to 10 business days after check-out for a stay to post. If after 10 business days you do not see the stay on your account, please submit a missing stay form, or email your hotel folio as an attachment to [email protected].

If you need any further assistance, please let us know.

Best Regards,

Mine never posted here. Submitted the folio and it posted (incorrectly - it looked like they thought the folio was in local currency and posted as roughly $250 ...). Then had to call and get that fixed.

May I ask where you got the April guide? Also what does HB / FB guest mean?
