That is a broad brush to use for properties in an entire loyalty program. I have been to plenty of SPG program properties with lots of outlets, outlets near sinks, outlets next to the bed, outlets in the bathroom. It's one of the things I look for and note when booking a property.

The room, while containing fairly new furnishings, has quite a few maintenance issues. Especially odd for a recently upgraded room. The front desk can't hear us talking on the phone, the desk has a hatch that apparently conceals electrical outlets, but it won't open. There is noplace to plug in a CPAP machine anywhere near the bed. And a call to address the items not working yielded a promise to send "engineering right up." So far, we have been trapped in the room this evening, waiting for "engineering" for the past hour and a half.

Hardly an auspicious beginning for a high-priced hotel treatment of a platinum guest. The room is quite small for three of us, but sometimes you can expect that of a hotel in a city such as San Francisco. No executive lounge, nothing as far as high0end amenities. I have not stayed here for about 25 years, but I've really had much better stays at the Hiltons in this town.

I just wanted to post here publicly that the issues were addressed. Thank you to Starwood Lurker and to the hotel management.

And yet it's true. In my experience, Marriott properties are much better about putting outlets near the bed than Starwood.

What else do you call it when they tell you to wait for engineering and it takes an hour and a half for them to show up?

I have not stayed at a Marriott property in years so I cannot compare. I still think it's far fetched.

I do believe that if they needed to step out the room, they could have stepped by the front desk and listed the issues, and had them corrected while they went about their day. There were options.

I certainly would not have sat in my room, and knowing how you post here, you too would have thought about alternative options.

You have your experiences, I have mine. Don't tell anyone that their experiences are invalid just because they differ from yours.

I never said "invalid" but I think for anyone to look at millions of rooms and state with fact that the placement of electrical sockets in Marriott rooms is better, is far fetched.

You didn't use that word, but all your comments point to doing exactly that.

All my comments are specifically stated to be within my personal experience, which you are denying is a valid basis for comparison.

NO I wasn't. Please do not assume or tell me what I was trying to do. I stand behind my previous statement, "I think for anyone to look at millions of rooms and state with fact that the placement of electrical sockets in Marriott rooms is better, is far fetched."

If you want to discuss more IM me, but lets not take this topic off topic.

Want to have a comparison (if possible), W SFO or Palace SFO better? Or any better idea in the city?

I'm biased, since I usually stay at the Palace. It's my favorite property in SF, although I've never stayed at the St Regis. I like the newly renovated rooms and being able to get around SF easily. The breakfast at the Palace is fabulous, one of my favorite hotel breakfasts in continental US.

Last time I was at the W SF (a few years ago), the rooms felt a bit worn and there was construction next door. They new building would obscure the view of the Bay Bridge.

If you need a suite, I'd consider the Park Central. The breakfast is really nice and the rates for a suite tend to be more reasonable. Booking a suite with money at the Palace is expensive, but so is the W. I've had SNAs clear both at the W and the Palace.

Anyone have any experience with Amex FHR here? Planning a two day stay in September. Would the FHR breakfast benefit work for Sunday Brunch?

I agree, I like the breakfast at The Palace Hotel. US$7 upgrade to full breakfast for Platinum members.
