Stayed just after Canadian Thanksgiving. Upgraded to Jr. Suite on 22nd fl, south view. Hotel was pretty full of NHL people and they actually took over the club lounge the last night there (Friday). We were given coupons for free drinks in the lobby lounge and alcohol was included. A pleasant change from the -very- high prices in the club lounge.

Service great, location great, room quite nice, maybe a little small basing myself on each of the 2 adjoining rooms making up a Jr. suite being singles elsewhere. No minibar or fridge.

Stayed here last night -easily my worst stay at a Starwood this year.
No suites available.
I was given room 3617, on top floor.
Around 3:00 AM I was awakened by a noise that seemed like a helicopter hovering
overhead. I turned off the in-room ( noisy) heater, but the racket continued.
I called for a manager, when she came she said " Oh, we should have told
you at check-in - the lounge generator is directly overhead rooms 3616-7-8, and
only a deaf person could sleep through that".
She is well aware of the problem, and it has apparently been the subject of numerous
complaints. She moved me to another room, but there was no getting back to sleep.

So if the management is aware of the problem, and if they do not want to or cannot fix
it, why are they putting their Plat guests into these rooms?

In addition, the club lounge was closed last night, so they offered me drink coupons
in lieu of the evening cocktails. I asked that instead the make my parking or internet
complimentary. The desk clerk said she would do both, but when I went to retrieve
my car this morning the attendant wanted the parking to be paid. GRRRR!

I am planning to do a points & cash booking at the end of the month (because the Westin isn't offering it) at either the Sheraton or Le Méridien Versailles... does the club lounge still charge $$$$$ for a friggin' soda?

Is the club lounge now open on weekends? If so, is the bkfast continental or is there some hot food? Is the coffee machine perpetually broken as per previous posts?

Is the reported reno a nice change/overhaul from the days that this property was tired? I don't mean just a cosmetic reno like new wallpaper or a coat of paint.. I'm talking about the entire room top to bottom including furniture.

I stayed at this place with my gf at the time in the summer of 2006 and wasn't impressed by it. The reviews here on FT aren't that stellar.

Does this property continue to nickel and dime plats? Does every waking human staff member expect a $10 tip for making the effort of being nice to you?

TIA!

After a one nighter at the Sheraton Montreal, I can say that I enjoyed my stayover, given that I migrated for awhile to the W, significantly better service received, and the Westin, taking advantage of the 5K and 2K bonus events. I booked a traditional room, was pre-upgraded in the morning on the day of arrival to a junior suite, and was eventually upgraded to the Executive Deluxe suite, easily over a 1,000 sq. ft. The Club Lounge was dead quiet in the evening. Still the same lounge attendants, and yes, still looking for a tip. The coffee machine was being repaired by maintenance, while I was there. The pool area was equally quiet but quite enjoyable. I believe all the rooms have been renovated, included the public corridors. Case goods, wallpaper, flooring, etc. were all updated. As a Plat, I have been typically upgraded to a Junior suite. It's now become a hard choice for me when I come to Montreal: Sheraton, W or Westin...

I stayed here in late November and it was better than I expected. I usually stay at the Hilton Bonaventure, but I needed the 4 pm. check-out with Starwood. My last stay (as a Gold) at Sheraton Montreal was subpar. This one, as a Platinum, was better. Unlike last time, I did receive the requested King bed, and there was even a little sitting area in addition. The room also had a nice safe. I practically begged for breakfast coupons, and I received one breakfast voucher (for a 2 night stay), but the check-in guy was nice. The gym and pool area was excellent and free internet is available in the lobby. An okay stay, but nothing like the Starwood properties I stayed at in Europe and Asia. This area of Montreal, particularly with respect to the availability of international restaurants, is great.

I arrived pretty early in the morning so I checked in pretty early at around 11:30 AM.

I went out to lunch and came back around 1:30 PM.

As I`m getting undressed the maid comes into the room and asked in a surprised manner "you didn`t check out yet?". I told her I just checked in hours ago and she scurries out of the room.

Luckily I only had my shirt off.

I don`t think she understood me because she came back in 20 minutes and asked if I needed maid service today. I told her again I just checked in and the room was fine.

She comes back in an hour or two and knocks on the door to ask when I would be checking out. I told her tomorrow.

???

Question

I stayed here years ago, and have an upcoming stay. I am SPG Gold, and I booked a Club Level room on a Friday night. Reading the previous posts, I am unsure what to expect...
1-Will the lounge be open Friday night / Saturday morning?
2-What types of hors d'oeuvres do they serve, and is there a fee for alcoholic and/or non alcohol drinks?
3-What is the breakfast like?
4-What are the lounge hours?
5-Anything else...?

I stayed at this hotel last week. i had a long meeting in the lounge ( 9 hr.). it was quiet, comfy and very spacious.

Lounge closes at 9:00 pm everyday

Breakfast : 6:30-9:30 weekdays and 7:00-10:00 weekends

evening snacks : 5:00-8:00 everyday

Breakfast mainly continental. fresh fruits, cereal, etc.. some cold meats and boiled eggs were available too. juices are not fresh.

evening snacks was good. 2 or 3 hot items ( checkin wings, shrimps etc..) and several cold items and some cheese and crackers.

soft drinks are free. alcohol is charged.

its a nice hotel in a very good location. the staff were very efficient and friendly. got suite upgrade on a high floor. very nice view of Montreal downtown and the mountains. i would definitely stay there again. if you don't want to pay $40 for the taxi, you can get the 747 bus which commute between Airport and downtown it cost only $8 per direction ( exact change). this service was recommended to me by the lounge attendant. i used it on my way back to the Airport. it is very clean and efficient.

The 2010 remodel here was a good one. Hotel looks fresh and on my last two stays last week, my junior suite upgrades were both surprisingly nice. Smallish rooms, but one room with bath has Q bed, while second room is parlor with a second full bath. All soft and hard goods completely replaced in 2010 and looking great.

This hotel was getting desparately dated, but is really in very good shape now.

I did not love the Club Lounge offerings, but they met basic expectations. Nothing special at all for the evenings -- so much so that I'd actually suggest skipping it completely.

All that said, I'd give this place a solid B these days. (Maybe even a B+!)

I stayed here at the end of March for two nights, and was upgraded to the "Large Hospitality Suite" on the 6th floor. It was absolutely massive (there is a picture on their website) and would have easily hosted a standing cocktail for 100 people, included a service kitchen and large closet for a coat check.

The bedroom was just an adjoining, 2Q room that could be sold on its own, without the attached suite... I actually found it to be way too large (probably 2000-2500 square feet), so kept the door closed most of the time and stayed in the 'regular' room.

Service was good, however, but they did charge me $2 to keep my bag after check-out. I guess the bellhop wouldn't have known that I was a plat, but I did find it pretty petty.

The lounge breakfast was nothing special at all, but not totally awful either. Great view from up there.

Just Had another great stay here. A few notes 8/14/11

- Rooms are decent here but the standard rooms are not spectacular like the W. However, they are nice.

- as a plat, I got a monster suite upgrade. Big bedroom with a living area that had a living room and table that could seat 8 for thanksgiving dinner. A very nice room.

- I've also had the ##13/##14 Jr suites which include a Q bed, adjoining living room, and 2 baths. Not a monster but the 2 baths is key.

- they are renovating the workout room and because of this, the hot tub, sauna, and 6th floor patio is closed. Workout room is in a temp location. Not sure of the schedule but they say the workout tproom will be much larger.

- club Lounge... I like the bfast there. Good fruits, cereals, breads, etc.

- Location... I've seen rooms at the W and Westin and your base room at the Sheraton, though very nice, is not as nice as the others. However, it's location is awesome. All he hustle and bustle of Montreal at your footsteps.

- Busy... The hotel is busy. People constantly flow in and out. There's lots of Buzz. I like this. You could people watch for hours. The W and Westin (about 1 mile/20 min walk) seem to have quieter lobbys.

I would agree with this assessment. Lounge is ok, but nothing special - other than the views. The rest of hotel is fine and meets expectations.
Much preferred the Sheraton Dorval at YUL which greatly exceeded my (low) expectations. Rooms were nicer and brand new fitness center (major renovations happening at the moment). As a plat was offered canapes and evening drinks in the bar and breakfast next morning in the restaurant (perhaps due to lounge being under renovation?). Staff were also much more friendly than at Centreville.

That said, Dorval is no use if you want to be in town.

quick update: Hot Tub and Sauna are closed for renovations. They couldn't tell me when they will re-open.

I've stayed at this hotel many times. The Club Lounge breakfast is good. I enjoy it - nothing hot except if you want toast.

Evening time - I really wish they would change up the menu. Cold cuts, cheese, pretzels and chips are getting a little tiresome.
