Hat tip to dcchi: "Whenever we do staycations in downtown Chicago, we use the ParkWhiz app to find parking. Normally pretty substantial savings off of hotel parking rates and even minor savings (and sometimes more) off of garage posted rates. If you're willing to walk one or a few blocks, this works well."

Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Chicago, IL

Anyone ever stayed [Residence Inn Downtown Chicago/Magnificent Mile]? I know there are a lot of great properties in downtown Chicago, but I have to stay at this one the next three month (company negotiated rate thing). Just wondering what to expect? Any upgrades for Plat? Any restaurants? Good location?

Great location !! It is one block from the Hancock building(Cheesecake Factory)on Michigan Ave. Plus all of the great shopping on Michigan Ave. Bloomingdales is also one block away.

Decent property, recently renovated in 2002.

Problem with that, she is there for 3 months.. they aren't going to give up a 1BR and the associated revenue for 3 months

Actually, now that I think about it, my upgrade (in Toledo) was to a two bedroom, if you consider the upstairs loft a bedroom.

Thanx, everyone, for the input. I'm happy to report back that the property is going to be quite fine (for my purposes - sleep, shower). And the location is indeed AWESOME. Just far enough from Michigan Ave. to be quiet, but close enough to go walking/shopping every evening. I wish it had Fox News and a restaurant onsite (for more points), but no big. I'll survive.

The hotel is currently sold out, from what I've been told, but they did seem willing to find me better rooms (view, size, etc) as time goes on. While the weekly rate (ie, don't have to pack up suitcase every weekend) is nice, I may on occasion ask to upgrade to a slightly larger room if I have company coming to town, etc. They were very encouraging about that type of thing.

So overall, I'm quite pleased. Not plush, but neat and clean.

By the way, I'm jealous. This is an absolutely EPIC week to be in Chicago. The north side is totally off the hinges, and marathon weekend is coming up. Heck, da Bears even won a game in their new crib. Almost makes me want to jump on a plane...

Epic. Only word to describe it.
