USA-issued card benefits changed on August 11, 2015. (Announcement & extended discussion at American Express and Starwood enhance cobrand credit card benefits.) The benefits are slightly different for personal and business cards:

My oldest credit card (not Amex to be precise) I got 30 years ago as a student gets resent to me every time after expiration even though I have not activated it in 20 years.

I cancelled my business version yesterday and got an offer of something like 5000 points plus 10000 if I spent another $1000, 15000 total Marriott points does not get me where I want to go and so I went through with the cancellation.

So i assume you spend much more than $12k a year on your Alliant card? Because it has a $59 annual fee and you need to spend 12k just to break even.

They have been pretty clear that they won’t be sending a new card until this one expires.

Not for me. Too granular by far. If they'd done it in $5k chunks, ok, but this is only good value if you spend exact multiples of $25k/year. Way too hard to make that happen without sacrifices. (e.g. Having to put Hilton spending on it instead of my Hilton card and so on.)
The next $25k tier will be in question... as I'll have to see how much time I have left in the year in order to achieve it. I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Is this a promo for the Luxury card? I see nothing in my Amex account (old SPG card). If yes, then this should probably be discussed in the Luxury card thread instead of this one.
