I believe that it's due to the hotel gaming/playing with the reward availability

I noticed too that they release award availability and they also migrated their reservation system to Marriott so I cancelled my SPG-based which cost more points because it wasn't a standard room and was able to snagged a 10 days reservation during CHERRY BLOSSOM 2019 I will now be able to attache my Travel Package Category 5 certificate to it !
I am going with my <1 year old baby and made a reservation for two adults (room details say crib permitted) assuming there will be no problem at check-in

Our reservation is also for 2 adults and I am hoping to squeeze in a rollaway at check-in...otherwise I'd have to convince my 3-year old to sleep in a crib for a few nights!

Why are posts about this hotel so infrequent given the high popularity of Kyoto? Do most people stay at the Ritz (which doesn't offer free breakfast or lounge access to Platinum Elites) ?

Just noticed there is a notice on the marriott rewards website when booking this hotel that says
"Guest room refurbishment through February 2020"
So rennovations will continue for more than year from now.
That's a very long time to be doing work in the hotel.

Another message on the marriott rewards website states:
" We’re sorry. This property is not taking redemption bookings at this time. You can either book a cash reservation or search for another property. "
I tried a few 1 nights stays a few days from now, and others a few months from now.
Same message as above.
Have they blocked all points bookings ?
Are they allowed to even do that ?

They are refurbishing all their rooms and the rooms will approximately double it's current size, meaning the standard room in the future would be almost double the size of the current room. The capacity for the hotel will be decreased by 50% by the end of the refurbishments so probably they are not allowing any redemption due to inventory control?

Has anyone stayed on the Westin Miyako Kyoto during the renovation?
I tend to avoid hotels undergoing renovation due to the obvious issues with noise, disruption, etc., even though the Westin writes "We will pay the utmost attention to each work process to prevent any trouble and minimize the inconvenience to guests".

Four Seasons: It appears that all of the non-suite rooms are approximately the same size and floorplan, with the difference being the view. Is that correct?
Is there anything else in that immediate neighborhood that we should consider? We stayed in the Hyatt in 2006 and my wife liked the location but not the hotel.

I'm having the same problem. Says I can't apply SNAs. It's not my rate and I know suites are available. I wonder if they are somehow not using the system for some reason. Similar problem occurring at the Prince Gallery in Tokyo. They indicated their branding prohibited them from using SNAs even though they worked when it was SPG.

We have checked and both hotels (The Westin Miyako Kyoto and The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho, A Luxury Collection Hotel) do not participate in Suite Night Awards.
