I'm just finishing up my stay in the Four Points and have been pretty happy with the stay and thought it was a very good value for the price ($80/night). I was upgraded to a suite in the pool bldg and service was very good. Nice big room facing out the back so very quite. No lounge, but free drinks in the Beer Vault Lounge 5:30-7:30. The general manager Janet came through the lounge first time I was there and introduced herself to me as well as a number of customers. Our taxi day trip out to Ayutthaya fell through last minute but the doorman Jack found us an alternative driver at a reasonable rate and the taxi/driver was excellent. Included breakfast buffet wasn't lavish but plenty of decent food. Rooftop infinity pool is smallish but perfectly acceptable and the adjacent rooftop bar is nice for lunch or a few evening drinks. Only issue with the room was the closet doors came off track but it was pretty much fixed immediately.
The area was good, very busy at night, close to bars, resteraunts, shopping, massage places, street food and the MRT/BTS. Would definitely stay here again...

staying in bkk on monthly basis; le meridien is the best choice for me:
BRG around 2500 THB++ almost available
C+P almost available
100% suite upgrade success to nice modern executive suite
no lounge - but unlimited drinks @bamoo chic bar for platinums, even the creative hour has passed; no charge for guests; also small food with free refill
excellent breakfast buffet
convenient location for bts, mrt (5 min walking), airport (40 min), entertainment and shopping

I decided to give the Four Points a second chance a few months later (2 weeks ago). Check-in and again no upgrades available, at all, put in the same basic room.
So, I am 0 for 2 on this property. I am also an SPG100 platinum. Go figure, perhaps bad luck, but not sure how many more times I want to chance it. Then again, my last trip to BKK where I stayed in the Four Points, Plaza Athenee, and LMBKK, I didn't get a suite in any of those hotels. It seems the higher I go in platinum (SPG75 then SPG100) the fewer upgrades I get.
As another data point, the last time I went to BKK a few weeks ago, the hotel prices at all the SPG hotels (sans ALoft) have been through the roof! WS, SGS, PA, and LMBKK were all $200++. Is this a seasonal price increase that goes back to normal at some point?

But, this is good news. Why? Because it opens up other choices.
I just stayed at the new SOFITEL Sukhumvit near Soi 15.
There is not 1 SPG hotel in Bangkok that can beat this property. The room was FANTASTIC, wood and marble everywhere, LCD TV, Bose iphone setup, incredible.
Priced out at a little over $100 a night (plus tax)
The service was unparalleled. The cocktail lounge was great. Lobby impressive.
Those who boast about the SGS would be blown away. I was. And I have no status at Accor.
So, let them raise the prices. It just gives me more other hotels to choose from. I'll buy my own breakfast and evening cocktails, thanks.

I don't believe you can't use "codes" to file a BRG with.

Gee, SeanThePilot, I'm not so sure about that. Could it be more that, for example, all the cheap rates go quickly at certain times of the year, -- holidays and high season, for example? I've also seen, for example, SGS at the very high end of its rate range while WGS was simultaneously close to 3,000, the lower end of its range. Doesn't sound like collusion to me.
Regardless of price?
Definitely sounds as though it's worth a visit. Did you check out the pool? What's it like?

Three guests in one room
Has anybody experience and advice about which hotel is best for 3 people sharing a room?
I'll be in Bangkok in February with my husband and a close friend, and we'd like to share a room for 4 days. I've noticed that some hotels have only rooms with 2 single beds (not 2 queen beds), and not all rooms allow a rollaway. Are the regulations very strict there - meaning that it's legally not allowed to have three guests in some rooms/hotels? Also, is it necessary to register all three guests at check in?
If I get a suite upgrade (as platinum) the rollaway shouldn't be a problem, but I'd like to be safe in any case.
Thanks!

For standard rooms, I believe that SGS has the largest (sq. m.) rooms in Bangkok. As a PLT, of course, you'll be looking for a suite upgrade. I don't know which property has the best record for PLT upgrades. Reports here indicate that LeM is a good choice for this purpose.

Can you book 3 people per room on SPF Free Night award
Looking at the Aloft Bangkok - Sukhumvit 11 I can see that they have 2 Queen bed rooms and if I select 2 adults 1 child (or even 3 adults) they show these as being available (Chic, non-smoking: 2 Queen Beds, 344 sq ft / 32 mē, Oversized shower).
But if I try and select the SPG Free night award it tells me "SPG Free Night Award and SPG Cash & Points reservations booked online can consist of 1 room, with up to 2 guests per room. Call SPG Customer Care for additional availability." I know the room itself is available for SPG Free nights award because I can reduce to 2 adults and it shows availability.
So my question is, if I ring SPG Customer Centre will this be available or am I wasting my time here.

Anyone? "Laundry in Asia" is always idiosyncratic, but folks tell me it's not too difficult/expensive to get clothes washed in Thailand. But I'm concerned the Royal Orchid isn't in a "normal" neighborhood where this service would be easy to find. So how do I get clothes washed? Paying by the piece at the hotel is, I'm sure, a terrible option. Thanks.
Oh, and by the way, since we don't have breakfast included in our rate, is there a nearby place that's good to grab a bite?

SPG Awards do not guarantee bed type, so they are restricted to two adults (who are supposed to sleep in the same bed ;-)
Awards can't be confirmed for three people because they can't guarantee 2 beds. I have the same issue, that's why I'd rather book a paid room for the days where it's the three of us - in that case I know for sure they can accomodate us.
Aloft indeed is a good choice, I've made bookings there and at the SGS.
