The hotel is part of the Disney Tokyo resort and you can use the monorail to get to either park.
There is a new park wing that has a higher class of rooms, though the same facilities that includes an excellent children's play area that is free for elite members

Anyone had any luck with the Japanese style rooms? Kinda curious if those are still recommended. Some of the earlier posts indicated they were nice rooms. Also wondering if anyone has taken the train or airport limo from NRT. Sounds like you take the train to Tokyo Station, then the Keiyo Line to Maihama and then the shuttle to the hotel?

My friends and I just got back from a 3-night stay here. My expectations were pretty much in-line with what everyone here in the post has already stated. I'll reiterate here as well my thoughts:

  • Staff seems to speaks very limited English. When we checked in, the SPG Elite desk had trouble understanding and checking us in. Luckily my friend who escorted us from the airport to the hotel was with us and was able to help coordinate checking my friends and me in.
  • We got in super early (~7AM) so no suite upgrades available, but didn't really expect one either since the website was sold out for the dates I was there. We got a "Grande room" (40 sq m) with two bed room and a Bay view/balcony on the SPG Preferred floor. It wasn't horribly dated but didn't look as nice as the club rooms on the website. Shower area was huge, great water pressure, and decent counter/drawer space. It was also nice that the toilet was separated from the shower room. Room looks like the one in the picture, except bedding and carpet didn't look as nice.
  • As a platinum, we got breakfast vouchers for all 3 days to be used at any of their breakfast buffet restaurants. As kimusc said, the buffets were all very similar but Grand Cafe definitely had the largest selection. Liked how they changed up a few of the dishes every morning (e.g., soba noodles for udon, ham/cheese omelet for vegetable omlet, croquettes for tonkatsu pork skewers, etc)
  • Didn't get a chance to check out the Oasis spa but we got vouchers for those as well. Was told we couldn't use the Japanese bath unless we had a Japanese room. Not sure if that is true.
  • Rooms did not have wireless internet. WiFi was available both in the lounge and downstairs near the Link@Sheraton area.
  • Lounge was pretty useless except for few pieces of candies and drinks.
  • The monorail runs one-direction, and the Sheraton is two stops away from JR Maihama train station. (Maihama->Disneyland->Bay Resorts->Disney Sea->Maihama). You can take a shuttle to the monorail or just walk to the monorail station from the Sheraton. Mickey Mouse's voice on the shuttle is a hoot. It cracked us up every time we heard him. I don't recall seeing a shuttle from Maihama to the Sheraton that some of you mentioned.
  • Ikspari, the mall outsides Maihama station has some pretty decent priced food, bakeries, and restaurants (open 1030-2300) if you're looking for a place nearby to eat.
  • Tokyo Station is about 30 minutes from the Sheraton. 5 minutes to Monorail, 10 minutes to JR Maihama, 15 minutes to Tokyo Station. Pretty convenient once you're there to get around. Can take the Yamanote (light green) line to go to Akihabara, Harajuku, Ueno, Shibuya, etc. Also can take the Yokosuka (dark blue) line to go to Kamakura and check out the temples.

We flew in/out of Haneda so this obviously doesn't apply if you're going to Narita. If anyone is coming in early morning or leaving late night, the airport limo (bus) isn't a viable option according to the people we spoke to. IIRC, the buses started up around 730AM and the last one left the Sheraton/Disney area around 630PM. From Haneda, you can take the Tokyo Monorail to Tennozu Isle, get out and change to the Rinkai Line towards Shin-kiba, and from Shin-kiba hop onto the Keiyo line to Maihama.

Thanks AndrewT84. This is very helpful.
I put in a request for a Japanese room and see how that goes

I used Japanese bath even though I was not in the Japanese room.
The bath has nothing to write home about. It's just tap water, not mineral water.

I don't get it either. I've not seen WiFi in room any where I stayed in Japan.

I was told that shuttle to/from Maihama runs on weekend/holidays only.

Just returned from my stay at the Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay. Had the Japanese room and loved it^. It may not be for everyone, especially if you like lots of bells/whistles/luxury, but loved the clean lines, and elegant simplicity. The bed is Japanese style which is a Japanese style mattress on the floor--again not for everyone but it was different and that is what I wanted. SPG desk was somewhat surprised that I wanted the Japanese room, but if I stay at that property again not sure that I would want anything but the Japanese room.

AndrewT84's report was spot-on, but I found my staff had a pretty decent command of English. Lottsa keiki (kids) running around the property but I guess that is to be expected seeing Tokyo Disney is so close. Did the Grande Cafe breakfast and the selection was pretty good--lots to choose from. As mentioned before, the Club Lounge was nothing special but nice staff. Evening finger food was not the best and ended I believe at 7:00pm.

Took the Limousene bus from NRT which drops you off right at the property for 2400 Yen (approx $30). I would definitely stay there again, though I am a big fan of the Westin Tokyo.

Thanks Upperdeck. I'm headed to Tokyo next year and am considering staying there. Where did you get info about the limo bus from NRT?

I stayed her for 2 nights last week and the resort was very much empty (low season ?). When I checked my SPG App before check-in, it said I had a room with 4 beds (3 more than I needed as I was solo ), but when I arrived I was given a room with 2 double beds on a SPG floor

The room was dated, but the bed was comfortable enough. A little surprised that this was the "best available room", given how few people were staying at the resort.

I wanted to try the hotel, as I usually stay at the Miyako. Given the choice on my next trip (ie. room rates about the same), Miyako wins hands down.

How can I get from this hotel to Haneda for early morning flight?

I am planning to stay at this hotel in a few months and I see that the shuttle bus to Haneda airport does not start going untill about the time my flight is scheduled to depart.

Any ideas on how to get to Haneda other than Taxi which seems rather expensive.
