I can't imagine them making even a larger restaurant than what they already have......I have never seen it packed......busy, yes but only for breakfast. Other than that it is practically a ghost town. If they spread this out to the main area where some of the slots are this place will look even worse when the entire restaurant is empty at 7:00 p.m.
I know my opinion differs than most but I actually like that little Casino - I sure hope they do something different other than gutting that whole area.
Albeit it might not matter for me - I have a couple more reservations booked and then I will probably move on........especially after my last experience and the diminished benefits for Plats that seem to decreasing each and every year. Without a BRG ( which I am finding extremely difficult to find here anymore - it used to be no problem ) it really makes no sense to spend well over $100/night here PLUS the scam charge and tax.......I am there always on my own dime so finding something cheaper is not that difficult whatsoever. I don't know how many times I have stayed there when I was comped over at Bally's the entire stay and gave my business to The Westin. Bye Bye Westin probably in late 2017.

I too like the non smoking casino. I've had successful there. Standard Westin, but pales in comparison to other Strip properties. Starwood seemed to have given up on Vegas, but with the merger, we have more options. Granted, they are not better located than the Westin, Four Points, W or SLS.

What makes you think the property will leave in late 2017?

Revisit Bravada04's post with the outlook that when someone says farewell it means 1 of 2 parties is departing

Help with choice

Im booking hotel for a conference in April (at the Sands Expo) and I have the choice of booking either the Westin (Gold status and can earn SPG points) or the Palazzo/Venetian (no status and no points). The Westin is only $15 cheaper per night (after "resort" fees). Should I stick with the Westin due to status and points or is the Palazzo/Venetian worth the extra $15 per night?

I will not have a car and do not mind walking. Im not a gambler but I do like the excitement and lights of Vegas (and the people watching) so I would probably walk a lot on the strip. Oh, and I love to eat unique/delicious foods.

I believe the Palazzo/Venetian are all suites in excess of 600 sq. ft. if that makes a difference to you.

They are very different properties. The Westin is small by Vegas standards. It wouldn't be a stretch to call it very small. It takes less time to get from the street to your Westin room than from the street to your Palazzo or Venetian elevator. In the end, it's your personal preference that matters.

What JakeE said x 10 The time it will take to get from your room to the car will be extraordinary during anything at the Sands.
That said The Venetian is much more convenient to the sands and has much better restaurants (the westin has 1 restaurant and a starbucks)

Why won't you get points? You cn get IHG points at the Venetian.

I just changed my mind and booked at the Cosmo, since it is a Marriott property. Maybe I'll regret it, maybe not...

Appreciate the feedback, all. I wont have a car so getting outside quickly isnt a big factor (except to see some sunshine). Room space isnt such a big deal for me since it will just be me.

You're right, but I dont have many points at IHG and no status, so SPG points would be much more valuable to me. But Im glad I would still get something even at the Venetian.

The Cosmo is a fantastic property. Stayed there a few weeks ago. You can transfer the points you earn back to SPG anyway.

Yes, you can move points, but you can't move stays/nights. If status is your concern then that's what counts.

Currently here for a week. A very nice property located an easy 10 minute walk from the intersection of Las Vegas Blvd and Flamingo Road; the location cannot be beat.

My cheapo rate produced a PLT upgrade to a renovated 17th floor Exec Suite; amenity chosen was daily breakfast buffet; $44 for two otherwise.

Friendly staff everywhere; will happily stay here again.

Just so folks are aware...stayed at Westin Las Vegas the other day. As others have said, they are NOT waiving amenity fee for plats anymore. No alternative amenity. It's breakfast OR points for amenity (not both, as it used to be). Happy hour is gone.

If there were truth in advertising, they would have called that Unhappy Hour. Long lines for crappy food.

Are they at least cutting the amenity fee in half because of the internet cost. I thought I was under the understanding that as Plat's they would reduce that fee and remove the regular charge of internet?
I have two more stays booked there with the final one ending in August........almost tempted to just bail..
It has become the principle for me.
