From the website I saw a benefit called "Honor Bar", what's that?

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere on this thread, but have question regarding upcoming stay at this hotel through Virtuoso (am just a Marriott Gold otherwise). As is listed that the breakfast is for continental breakfast in restaurant or room service with max credit of $60 per room, would anyone here know if we would be allowed to order other stuff at breakfast instead of continental (much rather have hot stuff) and pay the difference.

Iím here now. Iím sure they would allow you to buy up from continental. Ordinarily, Iíd expect the breakfast benefit would include hot items, but Iím Ambassador so canít be sure for Virtuoso.

Mock ups for the refurbished rooms and suites! (39 Photos)

The St. Regis San Francisco

While I was back in my "regular" Metropolitan Suite for a quick 2 night stay to just relax and pamper myself, I had the chance to visit the approved mock ups for coming room and suite refurbishment starting at the end of May.

The Bose Wave speaker replaced by Tivoli Audio radio .... similar stuff was put in St Regis Sg rooms last month.

Currently at The Capitol Kempinski Singapore and will be moving back to St R tomorrow.

Does anyone have a sense as to how disruptive the renovations are likely to be? Iím booked for a stay in mid-July, and if it is going to feel and sound like a construction zone during that period, Iíd prefer to switch to another property.

My understanding is that they will start with the top 4-5 floors and work their way down. To be as least disruptive as possible. But the public spaces aren’t being renovated.

Thanks bhrubin for the photos. Nice to see that odd brownish string art thing is gone between the windows.

Just wanted to post a quick trip report. I am an Ambassador elite and I Booked a 1 night award stay on a weekend night during mid-May. Applied an SNA at booking but got an email the day before arrival that the SNA could not be honored and the SNA was refunded to my account. When I showed up to the hotel they told me that while they couldn't honor my SNA in advance, they were now able to offer me an upgrade to a Overlook Suite (several categories above the Astor Suite I had tried to get with the SNA). Very nice!

This is the 1st time I have stayed at the St. Regis SF compared to 20+ nights at the Ritz SF. I have NEVER been upgraded to a suite at the Ritz despite staying there for numerous paid and award stays (although they have upgraded me to the Club Level twice). My wife greatly enjoyed the complimentary coffee/tea room service and we both enjoyed the free breakfast (which the Ritz doesn't offer). The St Regis has a much more modern feel than the Ritz and I am surprised to read that they are going to be redoing the suites/rooms because the one we stayed in seemed nicer/newer than the Ritz rooms.

After this stay I am seriously questioning my loyalties to the Ritz. Thanks to @bhrubin for highly recommending the St. Regis otherwise I probably wouldn't have tried it!

Room/suite renovations nearing completion!

Good news: I'm told that the room and suite renovations are nearing completion--with just 3 floors remaining. Those 3 floors will not resume renovation efforts until the end of Dec 2019, either, so fall stays won't be impacted whatsoever (though it's possible to get an un-renovated room on one of those 3 floors, of course).

The reason there hasn't been any negative posting about the renovations is because the hotel not only shut down the floors as they were renovating but also the floors directly above and below those. So they eliminated any noise or other disturbance issues. Very prudent.

That's a pretty fast renovation rate, indeed, considering they only began in late May/early June.

We will probably sneak in a quickie visit in December

I was just told the Astor Suite is the highest level they will upgrade to for Platinum and above (I am Lifetime Titanium, just lost Ambassador this year) and the Metropolitan Suite would be a $250 paid upgrade. I canít complain about the already great upgrade, but this was a weird experience Iíd never heard here before. Anyone else hear similar?

What's weird? The Astor Suite is and has been the highest category suite for SNAs and the standard suite upgrade pool going back even to the SPG days, FWIW.

That's all to which you're entitled as a Platinum or Titanium.

Even Ambassadors can't assume they will be given more, though they obviously are more deserving than any Titanium.

The hotel has 46 suites (21%) out of 214 rooms. You can assume that about half of those are Astor Suites. The Astor Suite is quite nice. In addition, all but 3 of the 20 floors have already completed their refurbishment, so the Astor Suites are even nicer now. (The 3 remaining floors won't begin their renovation until late December, FYI.) So enjoy the Astor Suite if you get one!

FWIW Lifetime Titanium doesn't mean you're ranked somehow higher than any other Titanium, either. That assumption is quite popular--not surprisingly--with Lifetime Titaniums, but it's still not true.
