With luggages from main station, what would be the best case scenario to walk over there now? I hope things have been improved since last post from 2 years ago.
Anyone know what are the hours of their sauna / pool area? |
Burned a few of my remaining 7-night travel package certs here -- with rates often exceeding €150-200, this is an excellent place to redeem these, although Stuttgart perhaps isn't a 7-night city unless you have work/friends/family here.
In contrast to a number of middling stays I had here over the past decade, this hotel has improved. Front desk staff are friendly and pleasant to deal with, refurbished rooms are pretty good, and breakfast is relatively strong by Covid standards (with the buffet pretty much back to normal at this point). I was upgraded to junior suites on several stays, but with occupancy picking up, it's becoming less likely, especially for longer stays -- lots of business travelers here during the week, and weekends were crazy busy with people apparently paying for these suites. Still, the remodeled executive chic whatever rooms are quite nice, albeit not very large. Only caveat is that an ungodly number of rooms have connecting doors, and I've heard a lot of crying babies, rebellious teenagers, noisy TVs, and so forth in adjacent rooms. The main station construction is still going strong, and although the path from the current temporary main station tracks hasn't changed in a couple years, the path from the hotel toward downtown changes every few months. Important to note that the U-Bahn station has been relocated closer to the main station, so arriving by U-Bahn, too, now requires crossing the pedestrian bridge across the busy thoroughfare. Access to the hotel can thus be challenging for anyone traveling with lots of luggage, and someone with a mobility impairment would be best advised staying elsewhere (unless planning to get around by car/taxi). |

So from main station, is it still walkable with luggage to this hotel? What would be the recommended route? |

Turn left as you leave your arrival platform and walk straight, to the temporary ramp, which snakes down to the ground level. Then, drag your bags through the park (past the beer garden) and within a few minutes, you'll end up at the bottom of a staircase that leads up to a pedestrian bridge that crosses a 6 lane highway. Once you've crossed that bridge, head downstairs to the LM entrance. |

It's walkable, but you will need to carry your luggage up and down a set of stairs. Not very far, but can be annoying depending on the amount of luggage you have with you.

OMG, if ever a hotel needed a valet service for parking - this is it.
I thought that the parking in Marriott Milan was tight, but this is a new level (Hint - get the ticket, then its a hard right to the parking level) |
Planning a stay here end of May. Any updates from recent stay? Also will be driving. Thanks.

Guess I am providing an update myself.
Stayed here recently for a few nights as Gold. Friendly service. Drinks provided during check in. Redeemed for a basic chic room, "upgraded" from city view to courtyard view. If you need a good sleep, avoid city view. The city view is a bunch of cranes and facing a busy street. Stuttgart has been under construction for years now. Also, walking to city centre can be a bit treacherous given the detours due to constructions but doable. Malin+Goetz amenities. Breakfast was a decent spread with free flow Kessler brut. Only 1 coffee machine and everyone seems to be crowding around it. I like the pool/spa area but requires a bit of walk depending on which wing you stay in. Will stay here again despite the constructions. |
Had a 1-night stay here last month and I wish I was able to stay longer. Just a quick stop to see the Mercedes-Benz Museum before I caught another train to FRA the next day. Cash rates for a base room were about 291 EUR (because of Oktoberfest?) but a rarity popped up- a cash and points rate for 14,500 Marriott points and 85 EUR, so I went for that. Before my stay, my SNA cleared and I was upgraded to a King Bed Junior Suite.
Arrived on DB from Prague late at night, and check-in was prompt, thorough, and professional. Even getting from the station to the hotel took longer than expected and involved lots of twists, turns, and stairs. Was planning on heading out to dinner but Stuttgart 21 project (complete redesign of the train station) meant that navigating the roads meant walking on the roads rather than on sidewalks which was downright suicidal. So I turned tail and went back to get dinner at the hotel. Get the Swabian ravioli soup, it really hit the spot. The wienerschnitzel with potato salad was all right, but the soup was the star of the night. Along with 2 alcoholic drinks, the total was about 75 EUR. The room itself was large and spacious, and while it seems to have been modernized since another user posted pictures, calling it "modern" would be a stretch, except for maybe the bathroom. Classic? The sheer amount of luggage storage space was the wow factor here, plus a spacious living room. Pity I wasn't able to utilize it more since I checked out the next morning around 8:00 AM. Breakfast buffet was fully included as a Platinum member, had an excellent selection that was tasty. 5 different types of fish AND also a bottle of champagne at the door. Also, there were snacks (mostly sweet candies) in glass jars next to the checkin-desk which one could freely take. Overall, a good solid hotel, and despite all the construction, the location is a plus. After Stuttgart 21 is finished, it will be even better. That's a decent upgrade! Is that facing the road or courtyard?

The Le Meridien Stuttgart feels nice and renovated, but, my goodness, this is an aggravating area to walk around (especially with luggage) - cobblestones, stairs, and construction galore!

Such a lovely, detailed report, as usual but was that the only sink area in the bathroom? It looked quite tiny... maybe okay for a single person but for a couple, it would definitely be a deal breaker for me.
