Sorry, I missed this message.

I got so p*ssed off with the hotel cars, I decided to try a private company. The final straw was the idiot who insisted on driving way too fast on the wrong side of the road. He always tried to go down the smaller residential streets. On Monday, he was going at about 30mph down a narrow street when a dog (who was on a lead, attached to a woman) started scrapping with another dog. The dogs went into the road right in front of us (dragging the woman). The driver braked hard, but these cars have no ABS, so he slid into the dogs, just missing the woman. he just shrugged and drove on! I assume the dogs were killed or badly injured.

Anyway, I booked a private taxi, and that cost 440 rupees to get to the office. Great. Except...... they didn't show at 8pm to pick me up. I had to phone the hotel, and arrange one of their cars after all. It arrived at 10pm, and I got back at 11pm.

So, the whole thing has left me cheesed off with the Le Meridien. I've now cancelled my next 34 night stay, and booked the Leela Palace instead. I'll forgo my Platinum status for the sake of an easier life

Oh, and by the way, the QI Restaurant is now closed indefinitely, as is the Noir bar. Starwood should really put a message on their booking engine to this effect. I assume these have been closed due to lack of patronage.

Cheers,
Rick

Rick,

I'm at the LeM right now as well, just having completed week one of a two week stay. I'm also miffed that the restaurant and bar are closed so have been hanging out at the Club Lounge, where Christy gives great service, but only until 8pm or so. The client that I'm working with hired a driver from India Cabs for us for the entire visit and he's available all day and last night late into the evening as we went to Tandoor and some pubs on Bangla. I'm not sure of the exact rate but I know that it was cheap and the driver is very safe and cautious and we feel quite comfortable with him. Otherwise, the staff at the LeM seem to be really attentive and I don't have any other complaints.

Do promo codes work on this property?

Hi, I need to stay at this hotel for couple of weeks but none of the current promo codes seem to work. Has anyone had any success here? 11,000 INR/day is a quite high for 2 weeks.

Renovation

Pretty annoyed as just came back having chosen the hotel for a number of reasons but especially the dining and drinking options only to find out that the hotel is undergoing major renovations which were not mentioned and the bar and nightclub were both closed.

Noise started early in the morning and all in all led to a pretty annoying stay

A great new SPG alternative is the ITC Royale Garenia. Can't beat it!

Chris would have liked to have known about the work so I could have made a decision not just find out what was happening when I arrived.

ExpatSomchai , I agree with you. I was merely highlighting how difficult it is at time for owners and Hotel operators to schedule maintenance.

Hi tinypsu,

Please send us a copy of your bill. While we can't make promises, we'd be happy to take a second look at the posting on your Starwood Preferred Guest account.

Stay March 2018

Stayed at the hotel in March 2018 for two nights. I had planned to stay another five nights the following week but ended up cancelling and staying next doors at the ITC Windsor.
Prices are usually quite low around 100 EURO per night. Easy to get a BRG.
Hotel is dated and despite having renovated extensively it felt like these were only superficial changes with a coat of paint and new carpets.
They tried to undo the original interior over the top stonework with the signature colors, everything is kept in black, white an red.
The hotel was built decades ago and there is little you can do about the size of the rooms and bathrooms.

I used Uber to get from and to the office so I cannot comment on the car service the hotel provides. From the airport my office organized the transfer, so also no idea how that service rates.

I arrived as most international flights arrive after midnight at around 3 AM at the hotel. Everything went pretty fast, I was the only one checking in.
Room was okay but AC did not work. Despite setting the temperature at 22° it never went down to that, the AC simply did not cool down the room.
Next morning I skipped breakfast. I did not feel like eating after having found a cockroach on the pillow next to me in bed.

I mentioned the issues about the room when leaving for the day and in the evening a new room (suite) was waiting for me.
Again AC could not cool down the room, the technician came and duty manager came was well. No change.
Next morning breakfast was not great either. Asked for a herbal tea, did not have any, I was presented with green tea instead.
After I said that it is not herbal the restaurant manager presented me jasmine tea, telling me it is herbal tea.
Since there was no tea, I asked for bottled water which is not included in the breakfast, you can enjoy it at an extra charge.
I checked out that morning and did not come back.

The Assistant Manager did reach out to me via email asking for another chance and explained to me my feedback was a teachable moment and it will help them in future.
Googled the guy's name and the sentence and found it to be copied into every apologetic reply on TripAdvisor.
