Flying Buccaneer, Just read your post and I can tell you enjoyed it as much as we did. Just a wonderful location and great people. So glad you enjoyed it too. We used C&P, as well and would go back in a heartbeat.

Looks like I'm headed to Santiago for a few days next summer. I see this property is available for C&P, which makes it a great deal. I have some misgivings about the area, though. Last time, I stayed in Zapillar and loved it. However, Zapillar will cost me $200/night. Hard to pay that when I can C&P this property. Will I be happy enough? The hotel itself seems very nice.

BTW, the official occupancy of the rooms according to Starwood USA is 3. Does that mean I need two rooms if we're 4 people (2 adults, 2 kids)? At C&P prices, I'd actually prefer 2 rooms, but I'll currently a bit low on points, and will need to scrounge some up!

It would require two rooms if booking for 4 people.

Are you sure? When it comes to foreign properties, what it says on the spg site and what the actual occupancy rules are tend to be quite different.

BTW, for this property, the website says there are rooms with 2 "full size" beds. Bed sizes always confuse me, but I thought a full size was the same thing as a double. Yet when I called spg rez, her info said the rooms had 2 SINGLE beds. She also didn't see the "free rollaway" info that appears on spg.com for this property.

We don't see the same info as the rez agents do?

Well, let me put it to you this way...unless the property itself decides it isn't an issue before you book and check-in, it may very well become one if they aren't given the opportunity to express their abeyance of what is in the system. I would get their approval for more than three in a room and I would get it in writing, if it were me. YMMV.

There could be conflicting information depending upon what rate is being offered. For instance, CCC reservations isn't going to be able to quote room type bedding for Internet Only rates.

This place is a great deal using C&P. I'd recommend that you check out Las Olas restaurant. We were a little skeptical because it'sthe same kitchen that makes the pool snacks, but the food was well conceived and very tasty!

Stayed a few weekends ago in this property, good location, relatively close to casino, and restaurants (by taxi at night or walk during the day) nice views of the pool, sea, and valparaiso

automatically upgraded to a top floor suite as diamond. no amenity offered. bad service (inexperienced staff) at front desk and breakfast.

expensive (300$/night), but resting by the pool with the sound of the sea is priceless.

Those pics do make it look like a nice property. But after find cheapo tickets on LanChile's Chilean website (as opposed to USA site), we decided to fly down to the Lake District instead. And as a family, we can rent a luxury "cabina" for less than the price of two rooms at the Sheraton.

BTW, I've previously stayed nearby in Zapallar and probably would prefer that to Vina Del Mar, but any gringo with SPG points would definitely pay C&P at the Sheraton before parting with the significant number of US dollars necessary to stay in Zapallar these days.

Agree, nothing special to do in Vińa del Mar, I would go rather to zapallar or the lakes, but I had a weeding next door, so that was the reason of spending the night in vińa..

Do Plats get free breakfast?

Apparently there is no executive lounge, but do Platinums get vouchers for free breakfast buffet?

If not, is it worth it?

Going here in a few weeks and the reviews all sound terrific!

As platinum you can have full breakfast in te restaurant for free no need for vouchers ...

Breakfast there was one of the worse experiences lately but for free is ok

Well, not any more according to the manager.
He insisted that breakfast is no longer free on C&P reservations, even if you are Plat or VIP. He said he made an exception for me but that's the trend

Just had a very nice weekend stay here (paid), on which I was upgraded to an excellent corner suite with splendid views. Upon check-in, I was told that the only choice of Plat amenity were the 500 points, however as soon as I reached my room the front desk agent called back and said that upon consultation, she found that a local gift or wine & cheese plate would also be available. I picked the latter, which was very nice.

This property has no lounge (wasn't there something about lounges being a Sheraton brand standard) and hence no free breakfast. Maybe I should have inquired about them waiving the CLP10'000 charge for the regular breakfast buffet (which was nice and with very attentive staff).

Either way, I like this place.

I stayed last January on a C&P stay as a SPG Gold. What a phenomenal deal for the price. We got a gorgeous corner room on the top floor, with a great view of the water and Vina. A memorable view and stay. I haven't stayed at the Sheraton brand in maybe 5 years, and this hotel was really something special, particularly at the C&P price. The concierge was a little shabby (recommending a far walk to a restaurant that was closed that day of the week), but the pool attendants and bar staff were great. OT, but you should eat at Pasta e Vino in Valpo while you are here.

Has anyone had a recent stay/experience here. I am SPG Platinum and looking at possible early Sept stay on C&P. Thanks.
