IMHO, the Long Beach Westin is outdated and the service is poor to mediocre. The area surrounding is not attractive. Good Luck.

I've stayed at the Westin Long Beach at least 50 times over the past 5 years. It has improved over that period. New health fitness center, new interior improvements, similar to what you would find at a W. But I never paid over $199 for a room. Used to have a corp. rate of $119. It's not worth $350 plus a night though.

I have seen them load these prices when Long Beach is full for a convention. So if you really have to be in Long Beach...
OTOH, there is a Marriott Courtyard a few blocks away that is pretty much always cheap. Also there is a Hilton, Hyatt and Renaissance nearby, but they will probably have high prices too if there is a big conference in town. I don't know what is going on in March, but forget about early April as that is Grand Prix time! |
We stayed there last January and thought it was OK. Nothing spectacular. Of course, we got it on PL for $55 per night. Appears that it still comes up periodically for well under $100. There must be an event when you're trying to go, though I can't find anything of size on visitlongbeach.com.
Enjoy the visit nonetheless! |
Westin Long Beach [Master Thread]
Anyone care to comment on any recent stays here? I have a three day seminar and my wife would like to lay by the pool and shop. Will the Westin fit the bill? I did a search but got pages of threads with "long" and particularly "beach" that really weren't relevant.

This hotel is nice. It's not spectacular, but it's nice. I don't think the pool was that big, but it looked ok. The location of the hotel is nice though. It's a very short walk to the shopping in the new plaza down by the water and the shops down by the trolley. We enjoyed our stay here, but it's about average as far as Westins go.

It's not spectacular but quite nice. The aqurium is walking distance and the Queen Mary a five minute drive. Shopping and dining virtually next door. I like the Rock Bottom Brewery just one block away.

Westin Long Beach - Precruise
Wife & I are planning to do 2 nights at Westin Long Beach before a cruise in a couple of weeks. Does anyone know how Platinums are treated there? Do they have a executive lounge (that serves Breakfast)? Tried doing research but most recent post about this hotel is almost 2 years old. Appreciate any info that anyone may have. Thanks!

Well, I can give a trip report (and not get involved in the posting debate).....
I stayed at the Westin Long Beach in mid-November. I'm a Platinum, and I was given a room on the top floor that had the highest ceilings I've ever seen in a hotel room. There were floor to ceiling windows also. It was a pretty standard sized room, but the height of the ceilings made it feel much larger. The room looked like it had been redone recently, as all the furnishings looked new and there was a flat screen TV. Only issue I had was that I couldn't get a King bed......front desk claimed they were completely sold out (didn't seem like it though, as my floor didn't seem highly occupied). There was a very large, airy lobby with lots of folks using their laptops. I got there late in the evening and left early in the morning, so can't comment on the views, neighborhood, or dining facilities.... I stay in Westins alot and I found this one very nice and would give it a 7-8 out of 10 in terms of ambiance.... Enjoy your stay...... |
How are Platinum treated?
Has anyone stayed at the Westin Long Beach recently? This thread is so old.
How are Platinum treated? Has anyone received a suite upgrade? Do they have a Lounge for breakfast and evening snack? Thanks in advance. |

I'm staying here for a conference this week and was upgraded to a suite on the 12th floor. Not overly impressive -- it's just one large room with a sitting area that has a couch and extra chair.
Pluses: -Nice lobby -Pleasant housekeeping staff -Friendly staff in the bar/restaurant Minuses: -No lounge -The toilet is loudest I've ever heard and the Westin brand shampoo seems extremely watered down -The food in the bar/restaurant is not particularly good -Was not able to get late checkout for Friday because the hotel is full |

Avoid Any Room Ending in 01
Just stayed a night there and was "upgraded" to 1401, a slightly larger than normal room. Only problem is that the windows look directly into the office building that's maybe 15 feet away. The drapes were already drawn by housekeeping when I got to the room and I didn't check why as I was dropping bags and rushing out right away. I discovered why they were already drawn in the morning when I thought I'd get some daylight into the room.
Whoops! I told the front desk shortly before checking out, admitting that I didn't notice it when I got to the room, that I thought this room completely inappropriate as an upgrade. When they called it a suite, I pointed out that most anyone would rather have a room with windows that could actually be looked out of rather than a room with an floors of offices staring right into it, forcing the curtains to stay drawn. Didn't ask for any, but they gave me additional 500 points. I suggested they let the manager know that they should block that room out for upgrades to save them the complaints or the need to find people other rooms. I was only there for one night, so didin't matter going forward, but it's made me wary of staying there again vs Hyatt or the nearby Courtyard. |
Any recent platinum treatments at this property? How much is the parking and is there any free/meter parking that I can use for couple of hours?
Trying to utilize the $100 Amazon Promo. Thanks! |
