I totally agree on that. In the past, despite the sub-prime location for me, I always scheduled some nights in the ROS for getting some laundry done. Not any more. After more then 60 stays over the last decade in this property, I hardly consider it these days... and wonder why should I (or someone else)?

I usually go over there on weekends for some pina coladas at the club lounge if for my weekly 1.5 day break whenever I choose not to fly back home Anyone else know which other *wood properties offer good pina coladas during happy hour so that I don't have to travel over to the ROS
If you are going for the view, I suggest giving the St.Regis a try. The bar and it's view onto the royal sports club and golf green inside the city is one of the good things over there. Even tea time there can be impressive (if not overcrowded by locals, who order the tea time special - also often sales guys of real estate or luxury items operating there, inviting their clients to this venue).
This is just for *wood properties speaking...

I am not much into Pina Coladas since even in Bangkok the coconut milk is most often from the can (and more a Martini guy anyway) but would argue that SGS (BarSu)and LM (Bamboo Chic) serve the better cocktails by far.

Regardless, I think the ROS offers an awesome location a welcome relief away from Bangkok's chaotic hustle & bustle.

Breakfast only in lounge for plat... only poached eggs... no omelette / fried / scrambled eggs
Why do they have a live cooking station for poached eggs only ???
Lounge was almost empty. .. hotel is packed with Chinese groups.....
No plat benefit other than lounge access and upgrade here anymore....

Well not everyone does one night brg stays all the time... if u take a look at some rates in December it's more like 5000++ without breakfast.
When I was there some days ago there was only one order for poached eggs in three hours but the staff srood there all the time. Eggs are so cheap and they could easily make it a real egg station.... but I think this one is just a joke....

for the last couple of years, the pricing at this property has often been discouraging; it must have its logic, but I don't understand it. They sell rooms at very low prices to groups (and not the upper crust of groups), then they try to make it up by offering high rates to individual during the periods when the hotel is occupied by one or several groups. When they do not have enough occupancy with these groups, then they start to sell the rooms to individuals at a reasonable rates, in general, just a few weeks in advance.

There is a new GM. If you don't like his (and his team's) pricing policy, don't stay there.
I like to vote with my feet. ROS sees a LOT less of me than in previous years.

First time we went to Giorgios on 2nd floor and we were quite impressed by the service and food.
Their international buffet on feast is low standard I think but I can only recommend Giorgios...
But I just have cancelled a stay for winter because I like eggs for breakfast

So back up my last set of comments.
I still love this hotel. I will still stay there. They will still treat me great. But, there are SO MANY great hotels in BKK. It doesn't take much to win (or lose) my business with so many other choices.
The plat treatment is great. Suite upgrade chances can't be beat. The updated lounge looks great.
Point of Clarification: On my last stay, I WAS able to have breakfast downstairs.
Edited to note that on my latest stay, I was denied breakfast downstairs.

I stayed there few days ago, as breakfast wasn't mentioned on the welcome letter anymore I called through several instances and was told the policy has changed and breakfast was @ club lounge only unless u have a towers room or breakfast included.

I checked the rate for a night in November and spg.com gave me a rate of THB 4,255++ (about $133++).
Kayak.com lists the lowest rate (Agoda.com) at @$124, with the breakfast included.
"Limited Time Offer. Rate includes 20% discount!
Breakfast Included
Not included in room price:
Service charges 10%, Hotel tax 7%"
I know that spg.com has the Best Rates Guaranteed option, but who wants to get into that, with all the time and frustration that it involves.
