overall, highly recommended for two reasons:

1) Phil is a great GM who is engaging on the board, honest, and responsive to FTers. This sort of thing definately deserves to be rewarded.

2) more importantly, phil runs a very nice hotel! Clean, efficient, friendly, and comfortable. i'm not usually a four points guy, but will definately be back next time in the LAX area.
THANK YOU! Happy to connect via email if you want to PM me. Cheers! Phil

So FDC knowledge changes from day to day and they only know about what is valid for that day? Granted that would be a great improvement for a lot of FDC's (not picking on your staff Phil), but hope they have a longer retention span than that.

As a former road-warrior type, the only thing I guarantee at any given time is if I'm checking into a hotel that day ends in a "Y".

Thank you for the opportunity UXB.

Just held a company meeting at the 4 Points LAX, Eden S. the catering sales manager was great- even handled a major last minute change (whole meeting and room reservation moved over 1 day!) I'm a Starwood event planner and have worked with several properties in the LA area, this was definitely a smooth experience.

Ok, maybe my cup of coffee hasn't kicked in yet, but what is this friends of four points that you speak of? and how does it differ from Friends of Phil? or was that last part a funny post?

Phil, I haven't had the chance to stay at your hotel yet. But may I just say that I am extremely impressed by your most refreshing and honest engagement with this board.

I now know for sure the hotel which will always be my first choice whenever in the LAX are.

just checked into the hotel and the FDA said there were no suites available. I checked the SPG app right before i stepped into the lobby and showed a junior suite available, but didn't feel like arguing or tweeting spg since it was pretty late.

Received a deluxe room on the 3rd floor facing the parking lot. The room was also next to the elevator and ice machines. Mind you that this hotel is at low occupancy and I snagged a $67 AAA rate the same day. I really wish this hotel could get rid of the noisy motel style loud jet engine air conditioners and get a quieter system (no vents in the room) I don't really stay at Four Points, but after reading about this and having a proactive GM, Phil on FT, I was excited to see a renovated suite, but oh well, theres always next time - maybe?

PROS - free street parking from Midnight - 8am across the street from the hotel, complimentary bottle of water in the room, lots of fast food options around, the brewery restaurant in the lobby has pretty good happy hour (tried it before) , full hot breakfast for plats, usually can be had for under $100 . Clean and comfortable beds.

Overall, this is a no frills hotel - after all, its an airport hotel

Thanks for trying us and for posting your experience. Sometimes its hard to put a name with a Flyertalk ID. Please feel free to PM me so we can connect via email. Regarding the suites we keep them up available for sale. The ones we don't sell we use to upgrade our elite member guests. That's why they still show up as available. We didn't get you into our preferred West Tower. Email me and next time we will, with a suite upgrade if possible. Best! Phil

Just stayed two nights here as a Platinum member and I was underwhelmed. I booked a $79 rate, which stated that it included both breakfast and an appetizer in the evening. What was shocking to me was that I actually called the hotel and was going to book a week long stay here, but the lowest rate the guy on the phone would offer me was $129/nt!! No thank you. I could book the $79 rate by just going online.

When I arrived the front desk agent recoginzed my status, but never read the terms of what was included in my rate. When I inquired about the free breakfast she said that I could get free breakfast as a Platinum amenity. Why would I do that and forgo my 250 points, when I get breakfast free with my rate? I then asked if she could please read the details of the rate more closely, which she did and then handed me the breakfast coupons. Apparently she didn't read it carefully enough because she never mentioned the free appetizer promotion, which after talking with a manager she issued to me.

I must say that redeeming the free appetizer was painful! The first night they didn't even know what was offered and took 10-15 min to let me know what was offered, the second night all that was available was wings, calamari, and a salad. I ordered the wings and all they gave me was 3 crappy wings (one was so overcooked I couldn't even eat it), 2 carrots and two sticks of celery. This was the cheapest, most pathetic excuse for an appetizer. In fact, the table next to me ordered the wings appetizer and received over twice as much food, which infuriated me. What's even more troubling is that it's not like I just wanted the appetizer, I ordered several drinks during my visit.

On top of that I was only given a standard room (the one I booked) and not offered an upgrade.

Overall I was not impressed by this property. I've stayed here multiple times before the renovation and have never been thrilled by the rooms or service. In fact, after this appetizer debacle, I don't know if I can trust anything they advertise online.

There was obviously a lot of confusion here. Let me give you my thoughts in brief and then hopefully you can PM me and let me know your name so I can dig into the specifics.

First of all I can imagine how frustrating the confusion with your rate must have been and then to get a crumby appetizer with a smaller portion than the person next to you must have been infuriating. It would have infuriated me. Please accept my apologies.

Regarding the confusion. We participate in Starpicks, which is a limited time offer. I believe that must have been the $79 rate. This rate is good for check-in Thursday through Sunday, with Tuesday and Wednesday night restricted. Nothing comes with this rate.

There is a promotion called Four Points Four for Free. This is a floating rate and would have been the package rate that includes the breakfast and the appetizer. It would never float down to $79.

The appetizer is troubling. The wings, which I find generally pretty good, are rung into the Micros system the same whether they are on the voucher/free or if one is buying them. I've spoken with the Chef regarding consistency of portions.

Finally the confusion over what is included troubles me as well since the appetizer choices are printed on the voucher that your should have gotten at check-in.

I'm sorry we didn't get it right for you, but if you PM me we can communcate via email and I can make sure your next stay is perfect (if you choose to stay with us again).

Best,

Phil
