Booking
Nights available on points:
- Open up 12 months out
- Availability seems to open up five weeks out.
Fees when booking on points:
- City Tax of 400 XPF for each night
Transportation
PPT-BOB Flights:
- Round trip $350-600 per person
- Premium ticket includes more checked baggage allowance, priority boarding (sit on the left side for island views), and drink on board.
- Air Tahiti is strict with their baggage allowance. Excess baggage is $1.5 per pound over the limit.
- The airline is known to weigh hand luggage if it has wheels or is larger than your typical backpack or purse.
- If you hand luggage is weighed and is over the limit it will need to be checked or items will need to be removed and relocated to your checked luggage.
- Carry-on items do not seemed to be tagged so the gate agents do not know what bags have been checked
- If you hand luggage is weighed and is over the limit it will need to be checked or items will need to be removed and relocated to your checked luggage.
- Checked bags are weighed at the BOB airport for your PPT return flight
- They seem to not be as strict with charging for excess weight
- Lap infants are charged 10%
- Check the minimum connection time. If you arrive early Air Tahiti is likely to move you to an early flight based upon availability free of charge.
- In March 2022 the domestic security was asking that passengers remove and leave any large bottles of liquid from their hand luggage. Sealed duty free alcohol seems to be the exception.
- Tip: Sometimes it is cheaper to pack alcohol and pay the $1.5 per pound excess luggage fee than to purchase duty free at LAX.
Boat Transfer as of April 2022:
- 14,000 XPF per person roundtrip
- Children are free (not sure if there is an age cutoff)
It would be rather difficult to take the free boat from the BOB airport to Vaitape and then take the complimentary shuttle to St Regis. You would need to carry your luggage and time your flights accordingly. This would also need to be coordinated with the property.

101 - Deluxe Over Water Villa w/ view may be renovated

Will be dropping from Plat Premier to just Plat after Feb next year, have booking in August. Should I realistically expect anything different (since upgrades seem impossible to come by and everyone is on a leisure trip with status higher than mine anyhow)?

They didn't seem to know the difference between Platinum and Platinum Premier when we were there last week.

It was a lot of fun, and we got lucky with fantastic weather. Nonstop from SFO makes this a very easy family trip. Had 2 rooms-- both booked at 60k points/night. Nanny and kids in a reef villa (506). My wife and I paid for the guaranteed upgrade to the lowest overwater villa (superior I think, and somewhere south of $300/night extra). They had a Deluxe overwater available (for sale on the app for the entirety of our stay) at check-in. I pointed that out when they said they were full, and they gave it to us (118). Couldn't see Otemanu from the room, but from the deck we could. Also, I think this may have been mentioned before (bhrubin, maybe?), but the A/C is poor out there. My wife thought it was great, but we couldn't get the room below 21C. We came from Le Tahaa, where I could get our room down to frigid temperatures. Any specific questions, I'll do my best to answer.
The spa, by the way, was phenomenal.

Sorry you didn’t have good air con, though. I’d have made quite the stink—but then I make sure to get a written guarantee in advance that any hotel can guarantee 67 F (19.5 C) or less.

I am thinking of splitting a stay in Bora Bora between the Four Seasons and the St Regis. Any experience taking a water taxi between the two? Do you think the St Regis might send a boat to pick me up at the FS (or vice versa)?

The two resorts are truly adjacent. You easily can see one from the other. I’m not sure I’d want to move for that, but I’d certainly be very curious to see what you think if you do!

I used the new Amex SPG Luxury credit card for a pre-paid hotel reservation. It did not get categorized as 6x points, nor did I receive the credit (charge was greater than $300). When I called Amex to enquire, I was told this is not a participating property for 6x points (?). I have asked for further review and Amex said they will get back to me.

Award rooms release
Does anyone know when they release the rooms a year out for award bookings? I’m looking to book for next November or December, but can’t figure out when reefside villa becomes available for booking, like what day and time. I and my husband have been dreaming about Bora Bora vacation since I was introduced to miles and points about 3 years ago, but my dream redemption just can’t come true, it’s been so hard to book Bora Bora hotel on points even though I’ve been reading all threads and posts and checking the app as often as I can I did miss the window when rooms opened up back in August/September, so just trying to book something before December 31st before rates will go up. Any help or information on when rooms are released would be much appreciated! Thank you very much!

Does anyone know how many of the rooms are categorized as the reef side villa? From google earth it looks like there are a number of villas on the reef side, but given how scarce booking is even on release day, I am wondering how many are actually classified as reef side?
