Guam Marriott experience?

Any update on Guam Marriott? I will be traveling to Guam with family in June and wondering if the hotel is any better?

I haven't been there since last April, however they were doing renovations... full exterior cleaning/painting for the hotel and spa update. Room renovation was supposed to start but not sure if its done or in progress. Might be worth a call to check on the status.

The wife and I stayed for 3 weeks in June of 13....rooms were still dated but other than that the pool/beach access was nice. We only had a Silver status so we didn't experience the exec lounge. We did have to call and request points to be added to our account. Enjoy.

Thank you for the replies and glad to hear the feedback.

Stayed there recently for a week.

Breakfast in the restaurant was very good, evening snacks in the lounge plentiful (though a bit fast-foodish) and free drinks were poured generously by the excellent lounge attendant Rolando.

Other staff were great, too, and the scenery just breathtaking.

Couldn't find anything "gross" about the rooms or public spaces in the hotel as others have suggested.

True, it isn't quite luxury hotel, but I can recommend it without any hesitation!

The Marriott Guam is leaving the Marriott system in April as the property owners will change it into a Pacific Star Resort

Marriott to pull out of Guam

Marriott International has announced its exit from the Guam tourist market from April this year.

The 19-story Guam Marriott Resort & Spa will transition to the Pacific Star brand and renamed the Pacific Star Resort & Spa from April 1.

Marriott International and the hotel owners, Marianas Properties LLC, have ended a partnership according to Roy Abraham, general manager of the Guam Marriott Resort & Spa.

"The relationship between the two organizations remains cordial. Marriott International will work hard to facilitate a smooth transition of the hotel operations over to Pacific Star Resort & Spa," he said.

Owners Marianas Properties said they plan to retain management and staff of the hotel beyond the take-over date.

Previously known as the Pacific Star Hotel, the property has had a troubled past with ownership changing hands several times in the last decade.

Thanks for the heads up. I've noted it on the exec lounge sticky.

Cheers.

Wow bummer no Marriott there now. It had a decent lounge and offerings in the evening weren't bad, along with the complimentary cocktails.

I am so bummed. I tried booking rooms here on points and rooms are not available in June or July but I can book if I want to pay $165 a night or $135 if I prepay.

So what happens if you have a stay booked through Marriott and its after the transition date? It was booked expecting to receive elite benefits etc...

Go in with the expectation that the reservation will be honored*, but probably not benefits. If you get them, then you're pleasantly surprised. If you don't then your expectation is met.

* Presumably if it's not they'll notify you in advance, but doesn't hurt to give Marriott CS a call to see if there's something in the system about whether the ressie will be honored.

Cheers.
