The oysters still exist in the evening. They don't offer them every night, but that is normal. The food offerings in The Gallery offer guests more options than the lounge offered in the evenings. Breakfast in Feast Restaurant is excellent and offers cook to order omelets.

I had a 4-night stay here last week and was extremely impressed.
I had a BRG of ~AUD180 approved for the 4P before it re-flagged to Hyatt, and was subsequently given the choice of having my reservation moved (at the approved rate) to either Westin or Sheraton. I read the property threads and asked a couple questions -- no strong support came forward for either hotel, so I prepared myself for a mediocre stay. To my surprise, what I experienced was quite excellent; this is perhaps the best Sheraton I ever stayed at.
I arrived early in the morning and was greeted by a very friendly front desk agent. The duty manager came out to say hi. I was upgraded to a very nice parkview suite, where a bottle of wine, some fruit, some chocolates, and a welcome letter had been set up.
The breakfast at the restaurant was excellent, with high-quality items and a good selection. The temporary club benefit in the evening was a bit shaky -- some nights were very busy, and I found myself seated in the business center. The food selection was excellent -- oysters/shrimp/seafood/sashimi, a salad bar, various sandwiches, hot finger foods, fruit, and desserts. I don't know if this is their regular selection, or if they improved it to make up for the lounge closure -- in any case, it was a very impressive spread.
I'd never stayed at a Starwood property in Sydney (only the IC and PH), but I wouldn't hesitate to return to the Sheraton!

At the hotel for the second time in two weeks. This week though there is construction that isn't on the hotel website from floors 17 upwards and today there is no hot water in my room from 10AM - 5PM.
Pretty poor to not inform guests in advance and only at check in.

They did mention during my stay they are renovating the rooms 1 floor at a time starting with Floor 21/Club Lounge and working their way down. The lounge was completely gutted when looking down at it from the gym balcony.
It's unfortunate it's impacting other guest rooms as well.

Family travel questions:
1. I just booked a room with an SPG agent over the phone. I booked on points. It's a slightly upgraded executive room, but not a suite. I told the agent that it would be 2 adults, a 2 year old, and a newborn. I told him that I wanted to make sure that was ok. He assured me that would be fine, and that he would make notes on the reservation about the number of occupants and that we would need a crib. Has anyone successfully stayed in a room on points with 4 occupants? If I need a rollaway, I know there is a charge for that, and would pay for that. However, I don't want to be turned away because 4 people aren't allowed in one room. I'm going to email the property, but just wanted to see what others had experienced.
2. I read that kids under 12 are not allowed in the lounge after 5pm. A major consideration when we travel is being able to use the lounge for dinner when we can, as dinner with two small kids is super convenient in the lounge. Is the 5pm cutoff strictly adhered to? Is there an alternative restaurant that they would allow us to eat at in exchange for not having lounge access past 5pm with small kids?
Thanks in advance for any info!

Thanks...but not that helpful. I spent weeks looking at hotels in Sydney, Uluru, Port Douglas and Surfers Paradise. I booked hotels in all these locations. Just cant book a room at the Sheraton on the Park in Sydney with this number of people. I am wondering why as every other Sheraton I have stayed at can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children (or up to 4 adults as you say).

I have stayed here on award with 2 adults and a teenager, so 3 adults, no problem. I don't know about 4 adults.
I would call to book award room and clarify you have 2 adults, plus 2 kids and see what the response is.

None of these are available using Starpoints for a suite award.
