I am checking out of the Sheraton today, and moving over to the Westin.
I am very happy with the Sheraton ( large suite upgrade, much better lounge
food/beverage offerings), and think these days it is much better than the Westin.
If my stay later today at the Westin changes my feelings, I'll report back.

Just noticed name change to Sheraton Grande Taipei. Wonder why? There hasn't been any recent renovations.

Most likely another price hike & category UP in the very near future.

For people who like to visit 101 building can stay at W or La Meridien~
W is on top of a MRT station, very goood location.
BTW, both hotels are in walking distance, approx less than 10 mins.

Just curious what the Suites are like at this hotel. I have a booking next Feb and I need one King bed and one additional bed - either a second bedroom (preferred) or at least a pullout sofabed.

Do any of the Suites offer this and what is the typical Suite upgrade room type when using a Suite award?

Executive lounge is currently under renovations. Reception, afternoon tea and happy hour being handled on on the 16th floor temp location. Breakfast is at the lobby restaurant.

Any indication of when lounge will re-open?

The lounge is fairly large, lots of seating and a central food service area with an omelet station, buffet style cold food, limited hot food options - but enough to satisfy if you really need to eat breakfast at the hotel (given the best Chinese breakfast in Taipei is a 1 minute walk from the hotel).

No dumplings, dim sum type items etc - the food is leaps above a US lounge, but not what I was hoping for.

Thanks for the feedback. Can you please clarify the name of the best Chinese breakfast spot that's by the hotel? That's the tough part with getting free breakfast from PLT status... I want to eat the good street food, but hard to give up the free hotel breakfast!
