Marriott Website - New Changes in Making a Reservation

I went on the Marriott website to make a new reservation today. And noticed that there were changes made to "Room Request and Availability" section.
I used to be able to indicate whether or not I wanted an early check-in, and if yes, the time of my early check-in. That is now gone.
Also, there used to be a Comments section. I used to indicate the type of room, i.e. disabled, high floor, near elevator, upgrade request, etc. That is also gone.
And I checked my current reservations, and those items have disappeared from there too.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes. I noticed that also recently. Just another small step that MAR sneaks in to ensure the customer has zero personal communication.

Just remember that hotel developers & managers are the #1 customer and everything makes sense from Marriott

I disagree. Having information like expected time of arrival and special requests ahead of time will actually make it easier for hotel staff like housekeeping and the front desk.
There must be a reason that special requests, time of arrival, and additional comments have been deleted from the reservation form. I just don't know what it is.

For both a new and existing reservation, I still see the same room checkboxes, arrival time dropdown and special requests comments box.

This is assuming that properties actually have the resources to review these request and plan accordingly, which more and more, I no longer believe is the case with US properties.

Similar thread. It looks like Marriott is testing this new feature.

I don't think it matters. True luxury properties, RC, St Regis, LC, will reach out to you to ask for your preference. Others will not bother to read the details anyway.

As someone who books nearly exclusively via the mobile app, I don’t believe these options were available anyway. As TerryK mentioned, I would not expect many properties to view the information anyway.

This doesn't work if you make a last minute reservation at a luxury property.

If you are making a last minute reservation and need early check in, it would behoove you to reach out to the property regardless of what you put in the reservation notes.

I no longer see some of those options available in my reservations either... no early arrival request, no freeform comments.

Really sad that Marriott is killing features and making the website UI/UX continuously worse... and the app still doesn't actually show reservation details properly or let you make changes to a award booking.

And the website doesn't let you choose multiple rates, so you still need both.

This information is gathered during the online check-in on the app...

Clearly the intent is to encourage (if that's the word) OLCI ?

The only change I have noticed to the Marriott website recently is that I cannot log in.

Reservation Note Message Gone?

There used to be an ability to drop a message or special request to the hotel with a new reservation e.g upgrade or room preference.

i have noticed that this option has not been available for at least the past few months, has this totally gone away or has this moved elsewhere?
