Sheraton Wenzhou, China [Master Thread]

The Sheraton is an older, but not bad, option in Wenzhou - a city I honestly picked due to its distance on HSR from Xiamen (approximately 4 hours) as I didn’t really want to be on the train for too long. Despite the Metro system not having much useful coverage, I’m having fun so far! Here are my impressions and photos of the Sheraton:

Pros:
  • Upgraded in advance to Executive Suite, Signature Suite and placed on top guest floor - the suite has a sauna in the bathroom as well as a large projector in the bedroom and was described to me as “bigger”
  • Shower pressure was good (I used the wand head)
  • Offered 4 PM late checkout proactively
  • Club lounge had decent desserts and good French fries during evening service from 5:30 to 7:30
  • Breakfast is only served in the restaurant and was given to me without using up a welcome gift choice - it was pretty good - tasty omelet and decent hashbrowns - machine coffee was fine but I was going to Luckin afterwards anyway
  • Cheerful staff - especially the associate that checked me in who was very personable
  • AC in living room was very effective
  • The living room chairs were comfortable as was the desk chair

Cons:
  • The bathroom was HOT - I really don’t know what was going on here - I could also hear road noise more in the bathroom but I checked the window and it was closed - not sure if perhaps vent was just blowing in outside air - keep the bathroom door close to maintain cool temperature in bedroom
  • The bed - the mattress was so firm that I would honestly describe it as hard - pillows were also quite firm - covers were very plush, but that doesn’t make up for the stiffness of everything else
  • Some of the furniture was worn - primarily the stains on the velvet couch that would be far too hard to get out over the years

It’s a shame the bed was so hard.

My hometown is located north of Wenzhou. I have not stayed at any of Marriott's properties in Wenzhou. I may give a try in the future. Thank you for the detailed review.
